Biography

The Kane Brothers (formerly "NovaKane") is made up of three brothers - Mike Kane (guitar and lead vocals), Chris Kane (bass and vocals), and Bill Kane (drums and vocals). Their latest CD, "What's Inside", features vocals by Ed Robertson of Barenaked Ladies.

Mike, Bill, and Chris grew up in a town just south of Boston. Their father is a professional Jazz musician who always instilled a broad appreciation for all types of music. Their tastes are all over the map, from Van Halen to Dexter Gordon, Rush to Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello to Sarah Vaughan.

This expansive musical taste has allowed them to create music that is truly different, pulling together all their influences into something poppy, jazzy, rocky, and all things in between.

Lyrics

You Are The Woman

Written By: Firefall

You are the woman that I've always dreamed of
I knew it from the start
I saw your face and that's the last I've seen of my heart

It's not so much the things you say to me
It's not the things you do
It's how I feel each time you're close to me
That keeps me close to you

It's not so much your pretty face I see
It's not the clothes you wear
It's more that special way you look at me
That always keeps me there, woh-oh

It's hard to tell you all the love I'm feelin'
That's just not my style
You got a way to set my senses reelin'
Every time you smile, woh

Won't Be Gone For A While

Written By: The Kane Brothers

I turned in my claddagh ring for you
I thought you were true
I turned in all my friends for you
I thought you were true

Now I know I was wrong
I was misled by your beauty
And your charm

I cut off all my hair for you
I thought you were true
I cleaned out my bottom drawer for you
I thought you were true

Now I know I was wrong
I was misled by your beauty
And you charm

Now I know that I was a fool
To believe that something so good
Could ever last
And the pain I'm feeling
Knowing that the heart your stealing isn't mine
Won't be gone for a while

Won't be gone for a while
Won't be gone for a while
Won't be gone for a while

I put my keys on a ring for you
I thought you were true
I maxed out my credit cards for you
I thought you were true

Now I know I was wrong
I was misled by your beauty
And your charm

But I know that I was a fool
To believe that something so good
Could ever last
And the pain I'm feeling
Knowing that the heart your stealing isn't mine
Won't be gone for a while

Won't be gone for a while
Won't be gone for a while
Won't be gone for a while

Favorite Day

Written By: The Kane Brothers (rap by Ed Robertson of Barenaked Ladies)

Dirty hands and empty stomach
Walking home at dusk and smelling
The sunday dinners dancing in the sky

Whistling birds and windswept trees
Stubbed my toe again and skinned my knees
But it doesn’t matter cause I’m fine

Neighborhood of sisters and brothers
You can hear the echo of their
Mothers yelling for their kids to come

Mom is cooking, dad is mowing
And the roses all have opened
I should pick my mother some

My favorite day, My favorite day
My favorite day at 22

Who tracked mud on the kitchen floor?
When you come in please make sure you shut the door
We don't live in a barn

Wash the dirt off of your hands andface
And sit right down at your usual place
At the table for a while

Did you even notice that I’m sitting here admiring you there
As your reach for the last bun?
But I must admit that I don’t mind, you’ve done your time
Making sure this night was fun

Bring your plate out to the kitchen
Clear the table for a competition
Of Monopoly or Risk

It’s getting late, you have school tomorrow
Hit the feathers your pillow’s calling you
And don’t forget to set your alarm

My favorite day, My favorite day
My favorite day at 22

Now I don't want to sound like we grew up in paradise
With fountains and a swimming pool and swans carved out of ice
But we all had winter jackets and everyone got fed
We handed down our clothing and we shared a single bed

It's kind of like the feeling of a little punk kid
You think you'll never grown up even though we all did
You thought that it was over but it never ever ends
'Cause when you think it's finished we'll just start it up again

I spent 20 years living there at number 22
Where it was 24/7 like a 26 Skidoo
On the 28th of May I turned 30 (not true!)
Did everybody notice I was counting up by 2's? 32!
