The Katalyst Band's Extraordinary 2009

Nashville, TN - December 30, 2009 - The guys of The Katalyst Band have had an extraordinary 2009. The band released their first single, "Searching," performed on the ICM Awards, and have worked closely with live music producer, Tom Jackson. They ended the year with a showcase on December 3rd, which took place at Wildhorse Saloon, downtown Nashville. Several music industry professionals came out to hear the band play and left very impressed with what they heard.

The next single by The Katalyst Band, "Woah Oh," penned by lead singer Jordan Wood, will be released in early January. The guys felt that this song embodies what Katalyst stands for. They always seek to focus their intentions on bringing glory and praise to our Heavenly Father. It speaks of their walk and how others may view Christians from time to time, but their purpose and goal is to encourage others to find joy in their worship.

Meanwhile, "Searching" has been chosen to be included on a compilation disc distributed by Texas Tech to each incoming freshman for 2010. There are 4-5 thousand freshmen each year at Texas Tech. The song was chosen out of several hundred other entrants for this slot.

Bio

Katalyst believes we are called to love believers and non-believers through our music, and through our investment into the lives of those who hear us. We strive to ensure that our actions, on and off the stage, serve to build the community of believers, and accept and attract the community of non-believers. We want our listeners to see the person of Christ, and find the person God created them to be. It is our goal to create music which points to the goodness of Jesus, and we sincerely desire to be a part of the metamorphosis, and the progress, that is His mission.
Our band loves the live concert setting and absolutely believes that the audience is just as big a part of the worship experience as the band is. We seek to be extremely interactive and strive to bring our best to every note played or sung. To that end, our band members work very hard to keep our original music fresh and relevant. We study over a wide array of genres and bring that knowledge back to what we write. Our influences run the gamut from Mute Math, U2, Coldplay, or Paramour to Keith Urban and Christian artists such as Lincoln Brewster, Israel Houghton, and Starfield. Like other Christian bands, we also do cover tunes, but always with the Katalyst twist.
The name Katalyst speaks to what we want to represent. A catalyst is something that precipitates change, and that is what the Katalyst band seeks to do. Through our music, we want to begin to bring change to the lives of the people who hear us and we believe that God influences our music to touch our listeners. The band has been called a "hybrid" band in the press, because it has the ability to not only provide an extremely high energy rock show, but also be able to be totally intimate in a worship setting if the situation is appropriate. Katalyst's members share a common passion for music surpassed only by our love for Jesus. Consequently, it is our goal to create music that is relevant, fun, uplifting, and honoring of the one true God.

Katalyst was formed in September of 2007, when its members met at South Plains College in Levelland Tx. They have been writing and performing Christian rock music for the last 3 1/2 years. The members formed Katalyst to be a vehicle to change lives for the Kingdom of God. He has provided them some incredible opportunities during this time, and they are eternally grateful to Him for his guidance and covering over their ministry. Some of the highlights of the last year include:

• Performing on the 2009 internationally televised ICM Awards Show alongside such performers as Ricky Skaggs, Jason Crabb, Point of Grace, and actor David Keith.
• Placed their first two national single releases on Independent Christian Radio Charts with their first single “Searching” reaching #3 and their second “Woah” at #4 through May 2010, with their third release "You're Here" debuting on the charts in October 2010, and is currrently top 20.
• Their original song “Woah” was selected as a top 5 finalist for the Independent Music Awards Contemporary Christian Song of the Year 2009.
• Worked with the incredible Tom Jackson, live music producer, in order to learn to better communicate with their audience and improve their stage skills
• Played 200 different shows in 2009-2010, including four trips to Nashville where they performed twice at the legendary Wildhorse Saloon for industry and media events, and twice at TBN studios. This past October, Katalyst was also honored to be a finalist for the 2010 ICM Award for Vocal Group of the Year.
• Spent time in Los Angeles in 2010 and early 2011 writing songs for their newest project with Grammy award winning writers David Hodges formerly of Evanescence, and Steve McMorran of Warner Music.

Katalyst is working on a full length project and hopes to have it finished by early 2011
.
They currently enjoy the use of some incredible equipment, among them Bogner Amplifiers, Matchless Amplifiers, ZVex pedals, TRex pedals, and Colossal Cables, and they are proud to be a part of the Dingwall Bass and Duesenberg Guitar families.
