Biography

The KSB is one of the busiest touring FOLK/AMERICANA/ CELTIC ROCK acts in the Midwest.

Influenced by American Celtic folk/rock and favorite jam band greats, the KSB is unique because they are a female fronted folk-rock jam band band that incorporates the spirited roots of folk music in their show, adding the spice of a Celtic rock twist. Imagine an Irish pub set right in the middle of Woodstock. Yep, that's it. Along with catchy, energetic folk/rock originals, The KSB is also known for rocking out some of the most popular Irish pub tunes, turning them into pulsating grooves that have everyone on their feet.

We respect the traditions of folk music, but take it to a higher level with Katie's rootsy, passionate vocals, energetic rhythms and a mind-blowing stage energy.

We are most known for coining the term Folk-adelic as a genre to describe our sound. Our music is exciting, our following is quite significant in the Midwest area.

Lyrics

Raise Your Glass

Written By: Katie Sullivan

There’s things we take for granted and things we ought to know
About the lands from whence we came, Grandfathers long ago
We may live in the cities of America-y
But the Ireland that’s in our blood makes our hearts beat everyday

SO RAISE YOUR GLASS
TO THE ONE WHO’S NEVER BEEN
OVER TO KILLARNEY
OR ANYWHERE ELSE IN IRELAND
SO RAISE YOUR GLASS
THEY TAUGHT YOU FROM THE START
YOU DON’T HAVE TO GO TO DUBLIN TO BE IRISH IN YOUR HEART

Well I’ll tell you a little story I’m sure you’ll understand
I’ll tell it to you with me brogue so I sound like I come from Ireland
I might have never been there the land across the sea
But I’ve known it like I’ve known me own
Since I drunk me first cup of tea
CHORUS

I was born and raised in Chicago and I’ve been a lucky girl
Come from a strong Irish family who taught me life so well
From Simpson’s down to Reilly’s we traveled the South Side
Ending up in a quandary looking for a ride
CHORUS

Well I’m sure that you now me story you’ve been there once or twice
Staring at the sidewalk thinkin’ it looks nice
Until the early mornin’ we’ve had many a happy night
I’m sure you can remember if you can’t well that’s all right
CHORUS

I’ve had many a night of carousin’ but I’d wake each Sunday morn
With me mother’s voice in me ear, like a well intentioned horn
I knew why she was calling me, it was time to go to church…
She didn’t care ‘bout the night before…or how much my head hurt

I tumbled out of bed poured me self into the shower
Politely denied the breakfast, had me tea to the Irish Hour
I made it out the door to church hopin’ not to fall
Knowin’ if I don’t bring a bulletin home
THERE’S NO PROOF I WENT AT ALL!

With all me good intentions I managed to behave
You now the Irish Catholic guilt will put me in my grave
I’m glad I spent me younger days doin’ things I’ve never done
And someday I’ll go over there and try in Ireland
CHORUS
