"SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER...Rock News; Introducing the Kickouts"

Its rare these days to find a young, up and coming band that can play the blues – and really play the blues. But when they can, bands like The Black Keys are testament to how receptive the audience is – today’s rock fans want the blues…bad.

Introducing Aussie band The Kickouts….gritty guitar, solid beats and some great harmonica (what blues fan doesn’t appreciate a harmonica?) - but this is modern blues – far from down-trodden southern drawl, The Kickouts inject a solid dose of fast rock into the music mix with a vocalist who channels the likes of the late great 80s rock/pop icon, Michael Hutchence. A musical hybrid that touches a realm of senses..in short, The kickouts, will kick ass - so watch this space.

"The Dwarf.com Review"

Kicking out of the north side of S-town, The Kickouts deliver a little slice of rock goodness to us with their self titled EP. This is a really solid performance from these five mates.
The strong drums lead the charge on opener Christopher Robin, and it really sets the tone for the whole EP. It's classic rock, with the amazing harmonica arrangements weaving through driving guitar riffs and solid drum work.
My Girl is a solid track with a strong beat, which then leads into Saturday Night, a rocking song that entices you to sing along; "Saturday night, won't you take me there." Well worth a listen!

"SCOUT TV REVIEW"

Hailing from Sydney’s northern beaches The Kickouts have bottled the essence of rock and given it a good shake up in a psych/blues vein in their newly released self-titled EP.
The Kickouts seamlessly blend the old with the new, with the standout feature being some good old fashioned deft harmonica playing, adding depth and texture.Their well-produced, tight and punchy songs are crafted with a natural ease and an infectious back-beat.
This awesome five-piece band have quickly gained a healthy fan base up and down the East Coast of Australia. After a stack of strong performances their engaging live set is definitely not one not to be missed,

The Kickouts EP features five bootstompin’ rollicking, sing-along tunes and was recorded and produced by Ryan Hazell (The Drones, The Fumes, Sarah Blasko, Tim Rogers, Bertie Blackman, Wolf & Cub and countless other Australian artists) at MVM studios in Monavale.

"SCENE MAGAZINE REVIEW"

Those who used to form Radiophobia have come out with a new and very promising release under the name ‘The Kickouts’. This is a great display of that old school pub rock n roll sound the boys from Sydney are starting to become well known for down their way. This self titled release comprises of five solid tracks across the board, with each one carrying its own charm, well worth checking out.. - Scene Magazine

"I-94 BAR REVIEW"

There is intelligent musical life on Sydney's northern beaches and it comes in the shape of a determinedly retro quintet with a harmonica player, no less. The Kickouts are caught in a time warp, but that's not necessarily a bad place to be.
This self-titled EP is pub blues rock by any other name but it's extremely well written and executed, if devoid of risk. Production is courtesy of the well-regarded Ryan Hazell and is attuned to a band who not only rock, but roll.
Vocalist Otta has that classic pub rock range without straying into overblown air raid siren territory and he and the rest of The Kickouts proudly wear their Zep influence on their sleeves.
Pick of the litter is an absolute thumper called "My Girl" that's both presaged and propelled by some fractured slide guitar and locked down by a steel-capped feel. "Christopher Robin" is the most overtly bluesy track and doesn't Stoney's blues harp sound good.
Ignore the nondescript cover. This is a promising call-to-action

Bio

Hailing out of Sydney’s Northern beaches comes an assembly of close mates, young men affectionately known as The Kickouts, churning the waters with some insanely fresh and pure psychedelic blues rock. Fresh and pure yet reminiscent of an old style that crosses greats from Zeppelin and Hendrix to Canned Heat and The Grateful Dead, utilising brilliant harp against heavy rockin blues to create a sound unique to their own. The Kickouts with the release of their debut EP back in 2008 (then known as Radiophobia) quickly gained strong recognition around the country, touring up and down the East Coast, their recipe of laid back looks mixed with a massive old school sound had people rolling around the floor. Gaining coverage through Triple J, Fuel TV and the Quiksilver Pro, along with a stack of strong performances at various festivals and shows along side well known touring acts such as Ash Grunwald, The Fumes, Dallas Frasca, Butterfingers, Something with Numbers, Blue Juice and British India to name but a few. Now it comes to stage two for The Kickouts with a new EP set for release later in the year. Sneak peaks of the album ready for release, reveal great depth in a band that is fast maturing towards the big stage. Get ready for The Kickouts with a new release followed by an east coast tour later this year.
