"“Are You Trying to Seduce Me, Mrs. Do-it”: An Evening with the Kiss and Tells"

The Kiss and Tells took the stage third delivering their sexy blend of soul, rock and lounge-core. The group played many songs from their most recent ep including Love School, Always a Lady and When You’re Around. The band consists of Charnobyl on trumpet and piano, Jenny-G-Spot on bass, Johnny Chartreuse on guitar, Kait Do-It on lead vocal and Ghengis Kom on drums. With lyrics like, “Well don’t be so preachy/ Ya got nuthin’ to teach me/ Don’t fuckin’ impeach me/ Just shut up… and eat me”, vocalist Kait Do-it’s soulful wail is difficult to ignore. It’s raw, sensual and most importantly authoritative. Listening to the quirky, flirtatious hooks and it’s easy to see why the Kiss and Tells have quickly become one of Peterborough’s favourite acts. Unfortunately, there will only be one more opportunity to see the band before they go on temporary hiatus (Kom and G-Spot are leaving to Morocco and Spain for a few months). You can see the Kiss and Tells at Rancho Relaxo in Toronto with the Silver Hearts on November 24th. Their full-length entitled “Lip Bomb” should be out sometime around February (Just in time for Valentine’s Day). The Kiss and Tells can be contacted at www.myspace.com/kissandtells.

Bio

Scarcely a year old, The Kiss and Tells have already built a rabid following of dance party R n' B punk soul hard lounge-core enthusiasts. This enfant terrible debuted on the Main Stage of the Peterborough Festival last year, played New Year's Eve in Toronto with The Silver Hearts, headlined shows acros Ontario, and recently shared the stage with members of legendary Motown hit machine, The Funk Brothers. The band features the astonishing powerhouse voice of Kait Do-it with angelic accomplice Wyatt 'Red Squirrel' Burton on stringed things and vocals. The rhythm section features Jenny G-Spot on the very low end of love and the triumphant invading blows of Genghis Kom on war machine. Rounding out the group is Charnobyl and his uncompromising nuclear assault on keys and trumpet.
