The Kitsch Collective are a group of like-minded musicians who came together to celebrate their shared love of quirky indie/alternative music, while also embracing genres not traditionally associated with 'standard' rock music.
Having played in various garage bands in Cork over the last ten years, the four members of the group decided to pursue a more creatively satisfying and experimental path and so The Kitsch Collective was born.
Musically, the band's main influences include: Echo and the Bunnymen, Mercury Rev, Whipping Boy, Smog, Simple Kid, Nine Wassies From Bainne, Nun Attax, Jeff Buckley, Muddy Waters, The Velvet Underground, Bjork, Rory Gallagher, Métisse and too many more to mention!
In addition to recording and performing with The Kitsch Collective, band members Cian Walsh and Richard 'Bill' Collins are also acclaimed solo artists who have recorded EPs and performed live in the greater Cork area and beyond.
At present, The Kitsch Collective are preparing to release their eagerly awaited six-track debut EP, which was recorded with Finny Corcoran in BPM Studios in Cork. Corcoran's previous production credits include The Frank & Walters and Remma.
In 2008, The Kitsch Collective also recieved airplay from UK radio stations who discovered the group via their My Space website www.myspace.com/kitschcollective.
