Bio

In the Spring of 2008, Mike and Alex branched out of the metalcore scene and decided to form a funk band. Mike knew Scott through another music project and asked him to jam with them. He joined after the first practice, and shortly thereafter Fraser joined as the keys player. Mike also knew Taylor and asked him to come to a jam and sing for the band. After this jam the KGB was ready to start writing songs and playing gigs. In August of that year they went into the Beach studios to record their self titled debut album. Over the span of 2008 and the spring of 2009 their were several line up changes, but the current line up has been playing together for several months. Old school funk like Tower of Power and James Brown informs most of what the KGB plays as well as the acid jazz influence of Jamiroquai, and Herbie Hancock. The unique combination of genres results in the grooviness of the 70's with the creativity of the indie scene. Lyrical topics range from the serious to the nonsensical, and energetic performances are the norm.
