"Back to Boston"

The La De Les channel Portugal. The Man and Explosions in the Sky through their heavy use of dynamic shifts, steadfast, prominent drums, and haunting harmonies. - The Harvard Crimson

"Five Stars"

Shoegazey rock, but, to borrow a metaphor from painting, with more figuration than all-over abstraction: there are moments of intensity, almost aggression, that reference hardcore or sludge, and an angular, active rhythm section is a foreground element. Sometimes possessed of a comfortingly floaty ambience, but periodically demanding more of the listener, this is music with a clear, individual artistic agenda, and a very engaging way of pursuing it. Excellent. - Live Unsigned

Bio

The La De Les is an ambient, alternative rock band composed of members Cody Nicolas, Aaron James Nicolas and Jocelyn Nicolas.

La De Les’ influences include Sigur Ros, This Will Destroy You, Brand New, MeWithoutYou, Xiu Xiu, Sufjan Stevens, and more.

The La De Les are set apart from the majority of electronic bands in their prolific use of intricate guitar work, live, loop based electronics, three part vocal harmonies, and perfect piano melody.

Finding their start in 2008 in Michigan, The La De Les released “The New Jerusalem EP” before distance forced its way between the original members, Cody, Aaron and drummer Sara Wilson, bringing their progress to a two-year standstill.

In January 2011, the group found a new home in Boston and began again with the addition of vocalist and pianist Jocelyn Nicolas. Their first full-length album, “Gadfly,” was released on June 28, 2011.

In January 2012, drummer Sara Wilson stepped down in order to pursue a new season of life.

The Nicolas family continued on as a 3-piece, and released their second full-length album, “Carlo,” on April 20, 2012. This unexpected release is the first display of the sound unique to the three of them.

Now they are eagerly anticipating the release of their first fully orchestrated EP, “Horse Teeth,” to be pressed on 7 inch vinyl winter 2013, as well as the release of their third full-length album, “Lungo Drom,” in late 2013.
