"‘The Late Twos’ Let Loose in London for Three Exclusive Release Shows"

With Radio 1 playing killer stomping tracks such as ‘Don’t Wanna Stop This Dance’ it’s not hard to figure out why Northern Irish mod noise-kids, The Late Twos are gaining so much attention. The lead track from the new self titled EP is a stunning combination of driving rhythms, potent riffs, soaring instrumentation and an infectious mix of vocals showcasing their cheeky attitude and wit.

Having already taken their home land by storm with sell out shows and a fast rising reputation for more than lively live shows, it was only a matter of time before The Late Twos announce these exclusive London release shows along with the release of their already acclaimed first EP.

“Heavily reminiscent of peak era Libertines --- is both upbeat and indifferent and in all the right places” - BBC Radio Ulster

The self titled EP “The Late Twos” is releasd digitally and on CD from Monday 18th March.

Don’t miss The Late Twos at one of their following debut London shows:

Wednesday 20th March The Dublin Castle Camden, London
Thursday 21st March Alley Cat Bar Soho, London
Saturday 23rd March Powers Bar Kilburn, London
- Inspired Artist Agency

"Track of the week"

Over the past three/four years, The Late Twos have carved out a reputation as Belfast's premier lad-band. Their catchy tales of all night partying, streetlight romances and adolescent debauchery has proved the soundtrack for many growing up in the city. Head to any house party and you're likely to find a Late Two's tune being belted out on someones dodgy speaker. They've even been name checked as influences by a number of local bands, all hoping to leave a similar mark. With this in mind, you'd think the five lads who make up "The Twos" would be pretty pleased with themselves. You'd be wrong.

'Sierra Leone' is the sound of a band entering the next stage of their musical journey. Whilst it would be easy to grind out the same ska-tinged indie that made their debut EP so lovable, the band have changed the game here. The clue is in the name really. For any fans expecting a song about a lads holiday to Western Africa (yes we googled it), you'll be left a tad gutted here. What we find instead is a thoughtful anthem about the treacherous living conditions of one of the most dangerous countries on the planet. The fact that they've managed to build it around one of their most memorable chorus' since debut 'The Late Twos', is a testament to their songwriting abilities. The guitar solo from the ever-reliable Ryan Bennett around the three minute mark, is beautiful. This tune sounds big, bigger perhaps than anything they've ever done before.

Careful not to loose the songs sentimental feel, we hear some light synth running through the chorus, a first for the band. We also hear a borderline emotional Matty Legge, if not quite ready to burst into tears just yet. A setlist regular for a while now, 'Sierra Leone' is already a fan favorite for the Late Twos faithful, whilst for those still on the fence about Belfast's adidas wearing, buckfast-loving, indie rogues, it could prove to be the only invitation necessary to join their house party. Four nights straight and they're still going strong... - Taylor Johnson

"Dublin Concerts"

Northern Irish indie rock outfit The Late Twos have unveiled ‘Sierra Leone’, with an accompanying video. The track has long been a staple of the group’s live set and they’ve decided to finally release it as a single.

The Belfast five-piece are keen to create feel-good indie rock with a pop slant and the laid-back pace of ‘Sierra Leone’ embodies this. Jangling guitar dances along the solid foundation set by the rhythm section, leading into the group vocal of the chorus, with its infectious refrain. As well as showcasing the musical craftsmanship of the band, ‘Sierra Leone’ highlights the impressive vocal ability of the band’s lead singer, Matty Legge.

The off-kilter video is a mesh of imagery, tied together by recurring shots of shadowy figures running against palm tree backdrops. Despite the easy-going nature of the music, violent imagery suggestive of the ravages of war permeates the video, which is pieced together in quite a surreal fashion.

The Late Twos have released two EPs to date, The Late Twos and Get Down Before I Pull You Down, and perhaps this new track is just a hint of something bigger in the near future. - Shane Croghan

"The Late Twos - New Single"

We are delighted to announce that The Late Twos release their new single ‘Sierra Leone‘ on Friday 29th January via Third Bar.

Their first two EP’s, ‘The Late Twos’ and ‘Get Down Before I Pull You Down’ delivered a new, fresh and upbeat sound across the country to much acclaim and were positively received by critics. BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 (Steve Lamacq Show) and RTE 2XM are among a number of radio stations outside of Northern Ireland that have given the EP airtime. In the last twelve months, the band have supported PEACE, S Club, The Bohicas and VANT. The Late Twos have also toured the UK a number of times, playing dates in venues such as O2 Academy, Dublin Castle and The Cavern. - Davy Matchett

"BBC Across The Line - Track Of The Day"

They Say: "We approached this track with a different mind-set than our usual upbeat, fast tempo indie dance. More melodic and certainly a much slower pace than our norm, it’s cemented itself in our live set alongside another slower fan favourite, “Modette to Ladette”, with a simple and catchy chorus to go with.

Returning to the Start Together studios to record the track with the help of Rocky (O'Reilly, producer), we attempted to capture this bold and emotive track. Along with the lyrics and music video, we are more than happy with how it’s come together. The track has a big sound live, and along with the catchy chorus, we aimed to capture that energy in the studio."

We say: “Another act we rely upon for solid indie-pop with big choruses and earworm riffs - but this time The Late Twos have taken a different approach. 'Sierra Leone’ is a little more thoughtful and splendidly epic as a result.” - BBC Ulster
