"Midpoint Music Festival"

Songwriters Derrick Davidson and Kevin Muro formed The Layers two years ago with drummer Freddie Brackmann. Claiming influences from Mozart to KISS, The Layers live up to their "Rock Soup" descriptor, jumping from stomping Arena Rock("Heavy on the Street") to buoyant, harmony-laden Ska/Reggae/Pop("Convincing a Girl," Sweet Revenge"), with strong melodies being the main constant. The group's fusionistic vision is on display in all its glory on The Layers debut album, Days of Gold. Enjoy your soup!

Bio

When The Layers formed in July 2004, the band set out to be a group in the Old School tradition of rock’s arena masters. The band’s music is often described as Rock Soup, a nod to these musician’s ability to incorporate almost any and every genre of the music world into their writing. This has become second nature to The Layers songwriters (bassist Derrick Davidson and guitarist, Kevin Muro), who have been performing together in various projects for the last eight years. With The Layers, the pair (joined by drummist, Freddie Brackmann) has touched on something they always knew they could achieve: A completely original and still highly accessible sound-without sacrificing integrity or passion.
With influences ranging from MOZART to KISS, the direction of The Layers’ live shows often take audiences for a wild ride not soon forgotten. Professionally, the band’s direction is focused upward and forward, working constantly to improve upon its sizeable catalogue and to developing its fan base. Soon, The Layers plan to take their music fusion to the masses with the upcoming release of their debut album Days of Gold.
To that end, The Layers are currently forming their own production company, Poly Star, to release the album and consolidate other aspects of their career.
