The Leavers grew from an opportunity to fill a Monday night residency at the Saxon Pub, offered to singer/songwriter Steven Ray Will. Seizing the chance to grab a much coveted weekly gig at the beloved South Austin landmark, Steven quickly started calling on some of his friends and favorite musicians to come jam on some of their favorite cover songs, as well as his originals. After solidifying their lineup and streamlining their sound The Leavers hit the studio to record their debut full-length cd, "Once Upon A Time..."
Before coming together as The Leavers, the band's members had been first call sidemen for a who's who of Austin's finest and most important Americana artists. Including, Alejandro Escovedo, Jon Dee Graham, Charlie Sexton, Will Sexton, Charlie Robison, Robert Earl Keen, Bruce Robison, and Kelly Willis among others.
