Bio
Comprised of lead vocalist/guitarist, Mike Murray, drummer/vocalist, Joel Metzler, and bass guitarist/vocalist, Chris Krager, The Left Ready is an American rock band. The three began playing, writing, and touring together as the Mike Murray Trio in mid 2013, and soon found a chemistry on stage and in the studio. Deciding that chemistry was worth more than the context of a singer/songwriter and a varying team of contract players, they decided to formalize and found The Left Ready in June 2014.
They immediately brought on LA-based producer, Andy Prickett (One Republic – Waking Up, 2009)and hit the studio, working on their self-titled, debut EP. The Left Ready – EP released August 22, 2014 in conjunction with their performance at The USA Pro Challenge, Stage 5 after-party in Woodland Park, CO. The name is derived from a fabled interview with boxing legend Jack Dempsey where, when asked how he became the heavyweight champion of the world, he replied: “Well, you’ve got to have the right ready, you’ve got to have the left ready, and you’ve got to be able to deliver them on a Tuesday night at 7:30pm.” The name aptly describes the band, both in the punchy tonality of their guitar and drums driven, riff-rock, and in their drive to succeed as a rock and roll band in this digital-age atmosphere of electro-beats and auto-tune.
