Ervin’s voice has a wonderful, emotive pop quality and it sounded great against this group’s lilting ramble. This band allowed Ervin to show off his more meandering, country side—and the EP, mastered by JEREMY FERGUSON at Battletapes and given out free at the show, perfectly captures the spirit of these catchy, mellow tunes.

Bio
The Legal Limits were started in 2007 by Nashville songwriter Ryan Ervin. He had been stockpiling songs that had more of a laid back, country feel than the tunes he wrote in The Carter Administration, and felt that these songs needed to be heard. He gathered some friends, including his Carters' bandmate Andy Willhite, Hands Down Eugene's Matt Moody and Matt Martin, and his sister-in-law Robyn Belew. Over a fall weekend, they recorded a six song EP that featured plaintive, steel guitar laced tunes that wouldn't sound out of place on 650-WSM to mid-tempo rockers that bring to mind "Damn the Torpedos". The Legal Limits aren't reinventing the wheel, but they sure are cleaning the tires real good. File Under: Petty, Westerberg, Hank Williams Sr., Neil Young, "Let it Bleed"-era Stones
