Bio

Los Angeles based pop music ensemble, The Library, founded by two Pitzer alumni and a current Pitzer senior, signs recording contract with Burbank’s Feudal Records. Feudal Records, launched by former Columbia Records A&R-turned-SonyBMG music producer Robert Shahnazarian (The Killers, The Decemberists Kelly Clarkson, Incubus) signed The Library in 2007.

Senior Matthew Srolestar, alumni Steven Lopez (class of 2006) and Matthew Blackmar (class of 2007) currently record with Shahnazarian at Hollywood’s Westlake Studios (site of Michael Jackson’s Thriller) and North Hollywood’s Bill Schnee studios (site of Miles Davis’ Amandla). Asked about the recording sessions, Shahnazarian said he has “never worked with a group of young musicians with such focused talent and vision.”

During their time at Pitzer, Lopez, Srolestar, and Blackmar played music together in a number of student bands. They extended their musical education by attending music classes through The Joint Music Program of The Claremont Colleges and the Music Department of Pomona College.

Upon graduation in 2006, Lopez relocated to Los Angeles and established The Library. Other band members include Court Alexander, Dave Lewis and Sean Krell.
