Bio

In a time when trends and fads seem more prominent than ever, many bands are almost afraid to follow their hearts and honor their influences. Some fear the “backlash” from the general public. Others fear the lack of acceptance they may encounter from their peers if they dare not “follow the leader”. There is, however, a short list of bands that do what they love regardless of outside opinions or criticism. The Lifeless Design is one of those bands.

Formed in Nebraska in 2003 by guitarist Blake Oleson and drummer David Williamson, The Lifeless Design originally began as a “studio only” project. Oleson, busy with his band Helldorado, and Williamson, engulfed by the pressures of being a new business owner, had very little spare time for a new project initially. However once the writing commenced, both knew that this was going to be something that deserved as much time and attention as possible. Realizing that this “project” was going to be something special, the decision was made to bring The Lifeless Design to the stage and the search for musicians to round out the line-up began.

Finding a bass player was easy. There was only one person on the list of candidates. That person was Scott Peterson, also from Helldorado. Finding a vocalist that fit with the band’s style and personality proved to be a more daunting task. After auditioning several local vocalists, the band decided to call on old friend Justin Schomig to fill the spot. Schomig, who at the time was in the band All Has Fallen in Las Vegas, was in Nebraska working with the band within two weeks of the initial invitation. Nine months later, The Lifeless Design was ready to hit the stage.

So far The Lifeless Design has played numerous shows throughout the Midwest. They’ve become well known in the region for their live performances, as all members have had extensive experience playing/touring in previous bands: Justin Schomig with All Has Fallen from Las Vegas, David Williamson with Texas metal mainstays Mortifix, and Blake Oleson and Scott Peterson in Nebraska’s Helldorado. Collectively, the four members of The Lifeless Design have shared the stage with such acts as: Slayer, Fear Factory, Machine Head, Crowbar, Malevolent Creation, and many more. The experience gained in previous bands has paid off for these four men. With a rock solid line-up and music that speaks for itself, The Lifeless Design is a band willing to do what it takes to bring its brand of metal to the masses. Rest assured, they will do just that.
