"McRiprock’s Lonestar Shotgun SixPack Project"

Think Gwen Stefani with a bit of a twangy twist. A fresh indie band hailing from the big city of Dallas hits us with their self-titled release. Headed up by Lacey Wright and composer/ instrumentalist Carter Stewart the group dives deeper than the average indie pop band with lyrics drawn from personal and observational experiences. They create a crisp pop sound that’s a little bit indie/punkish, but a little bit pop. Plans to release a full-length CD in 2009 are in the works. - Austin Daze

"Lone Star Sounds"

The Liking Strikes: A Dallas duo equally drunk on No Doubt sass, sparkling melody and plaintive pop introspection, Lacey Wright and Carter Stewart (the pair expands to a quartet live) carve out engaging tunes that glide along on Wright’s feather-light vocals. According to the band’s MySpace page, a full-length debut is due in early 2009. - Ft. Worth Star Telegram

"The Liking Strikes"

Their sound leans very heavily on the pop side of things, but don’t let that scare you off. Songs like “Stupid Girl” (no relation to the Garbage song) are so dang catchy that even the most pretentious indie rock hipster will be unable to shake it out of his or her head. Word of mouth has it that they put on a mean acoustic set as well. Electric or non-electric, this is one band I hope gets moved over to the “seen” category very soon. - The Ghost of Blind Lemon

""The Saddest Truth" by The Liking Strikes"

"I find it hard, not to recommend the track, because the sound is so honest without using too much of the overrated distortion or other effects."

"Lead vocalist Lacey Wright hits home with sugar sweet and strong vocals that are both melodious and pitch perfect. Backing her up is one-man-band Carter Stewart, who seems to play every damn instrument under the sun, and in convincing style."

"Most original - great structure and this girl has a set of pipes and knows how to use them. She weaves throughout the stucatto guitars and drums - perfect." - The Consensus
