"Little Rockers bring Rockin Kids Classes to NYC"

“Brown Eyed Girl” and “Yellow Submarine” are not just classics of yesteryear anymore. The founders of Little Rockers – Cool Kid’s Music Classes teach these tunes and more at classes in New York City where they educate and rock out with kids and parents.

Chris and Jessie Apple both say they have always had a passion for teaching music. As soon as they met and began collaborating, they knew bigger projects would soon take off. In 2009 they founded Little Rockers, a program they say offers a refreshing twist to music classes for kids.
After successfully spreading rock culture to kids in New Jersey, the Apples are bringing Little Rockers to New York City. Their program focuses on the fundamental building blocks of “kindie” rock education while bonding families through popular music.
There’s more to it than switching up traditional music education. “One of the most important things about kids is that their parents are their best teachers,” Chris says. “When they see their parents having a good time, kids are more likely to be excited about the music.” Apprehensive parents can appreciate the program as well: “A lot of dads can’t believe they’re at a music class,” Chris says, but with familiar tunes and bass guitars thrown into the mix, the staff at Little Rockers sees that shyness disappears quickly.
Little Rockers offers three classes: Tot Rock, Rock N’ Me, and I Wanna Rock. The spring session starts April 8. - NY Metro Parents

"Introducing the The Little Rockers Band"

Kids and Parents love their new CD and upbeat shows and classes!

My kids love dance parties so every night we crank up the music and they show me their latest moves. We recently added We Got the Beat and I Wanna Go Somewhere songs from The Little Rockers Band CD "Ready for Rockin" into the rotation. You can check out these songs on YouTube. Other fun tunes from the CD that my kids listen to repeatedly are Stinky Pete the Pirate, All By Myself and Phil the Fish. Every song on the album has a catchy beat making it fun for the entire family to listen to and enjoy. You can purchase all of their CDs or download songs on iTunes, CDbaby.com or Amazon.

The band was started in NJ by Jessie and Chris who work with Liam (songwriter/guitarist) and Andy (drummer/pianist) to create upbeat music and energetic shows. They are passionate about sharing their love of music with young audiences!

We are so lucky to live in Manhattan where we have access to some many great music classes! You can now add The Little Rockers to this list. They have classes at The Scholastic Store in SoHo and at Sprout on the Upper East Side. They will be adding classes to the Upper West Side in the coming months. Classes vary by location, but they offer classes for tots through age 7 so check the website to find schedule and registration information for location nearest you for details. Each class runs for 10 weeks and include both well-known children's songs as well as original tunes. The classes progress from exposing tots to musi,c to incorporating learning of the musical alphabet and notes for preschoolers, to hands on experience with instruments for older children. They are offering a spring discount through April 1st! You can also have Little Rockers instructors come and do music at your child's next Birthday Party or even have the full Little Rockers band perform a private rock concert!

You, Chris and your whole crew are amazing.  I love seeing how excited they get when I tell them we're going to music class.  And it cracks me up when we're driving along in the car, and Leigh requests, "Hey-woe Hey song, Mama!" -Maya, Marlboro, NJ

Lexi...was playing Little Rockers when my father came over. She commanded him, "Sit down, Grandpa, sit down and ROCK!" -Hannah, Middletown, NJ

It’s beyond an obsession lately. All we do is rock & roll and sing hello hey. It’s wild! -Monica, Red Bank, NJ

I caught my husband singing “Stinky Pete” in the kitchen the other day.
Too funny! -Jen, NJ - LR

"Big Little Crowd Turns Out For Little Rockers"

They came by the dozens, tiny and under two, wearing headbands and Mohawks alike, their tiny fists raised to the air with index and pink fingers extended towards the sky, miniature rockers coming together to find truth in something other than the Wiggles.

At The Downtown Sunday, the Little Rockers, a locally-based music outfit that teaches rock and performs for the fine motor skills-challenged, jammed along with a sellout crowd of about 200 toddlers and their parents, playing classic tunes and originals that invited everyone to clap and dance along.

Little Rockers, a regular fixture at the venue, consistently draw sellout crowds with music the spans all of Rock and Roll’s decades beginning with the 1950’s and appeals to both children and their parents. And, Sunday’s afternoon show, naptime be damned, was no different.

Families from throughout the county took the stairs sans strollers to the Downtown’s second floor, where the Little Rocker’s four-piece ensemble delivered a show of eclectic and upbeat tunes from the stage to a crowd of toddlers all at the same time sitting, legs crossed on the brightly colored rug beneath them, standing, or hopping up and down with a rhythm truly their own.

Founded in 2008 by music teachers Jessie Aquino and Chris Guice, both of Atlantic Highlands, the group holds music classes for families throughout Monmouth County the tri-state area. Currently Little Rockers hold classes several areas, including Freehold, Marlboro, Freehold, and, in Red Bank, at Summit Music on Monmouth Street.

Teaching Artists Liam Moroney of Freehold, Andy Letke of Highlands, and Sally Allstadt of Long Branch have come together to give kids a first taste of Rock and Roll designed just for them.

Bio

We play Indie Rock for kids – that’s Kindie Rock!

Our band is made up of a diverse group of music lovers. Jessie is our Broadway Baby, with her music theater background and vocal training. Chris & Liam are long-time friends, Beatles freaks and road traveled rockers. Billy is our music guru and laid back dude. It all goes in the pot and creates a musical style that is energetic, fun and totally rockin’.

With a little help from our friends, we travel around playing awesome rock shows and teaching music to kids and the people that love them.

The Little Rockers Band performs rock concerts, parties, school assemblies and community events. Our concerts for kids are entertaining and educational. We love having fun, but the teacher in us inspires us to add little segues about the parts of the guitar, musical counting or the different instruments in the band. That’s why our children’s shows are a tasty mix of rock show and TV show. We dare you to not have fun…

The Little Rockers Band offer music classes for families in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. The music is an eclectic mix of styles from the 50's, 60's, 70's & 80's. Songs are written with a cool kid's perspective and are produced in a contemporary style thats just right for anyone.
