"Aiken Singer releases CD"

A life-long resident of Aiken, Thelma Robinson is known to her friends and family as a singer, and with her new compact disc release, she is hoping the rest of the community will know her as one too.
On Sunday, Robinson will be singing five songs from her soon to be released CD, entitled, “Waiting on the Lord,” at Mount Anna Baptist Church located at 2612 Banks Mill Road.
“The CD is a combination of contemporary and traditional Christian gospel music with a bit of jazz mix,” said Robinson. “I think this project will cross all lines.”
Her debut release will be marketed on her own production label called Teej’s. After the local release on Sunday, Robinson said she hopes her music will spread to a national audience.
“I’m hoping to reach out and minister,” she said. “I know somewhere along the line, someone’s life will be changed by one of these songs.”
In combination with songs she has written, Robinson will perform a well-known version of, “I Need Thee,” and a contemporary mix of the hymn.

"Gospel Songstress Debuts New CD"

Whenever I’m attending an event or service and happen to see that Thelma Robinson is on program, I become excited because I know that everyone is in for a Spiritually uplifting experience.
Robinson is truly anointed and appointed to sing the Word and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Robinson, a homegrown product of Aiken is without a question, a woman of God who has answered her call, and God has truly blessed this area through her ministry.
For more than 30 years, Robinson has served this community and surrounding area through song and praise. However, when conversing with her, one will find that her gift of song comes from a life that is on the foundation of Jesus Christ. Not only is she a prolific songstress for the Lord, she is humble person who bubbles over with the true joy of someone who is in love with Jesus. Robinson’s salvation is evidenced in her presentation through her singing and testimony.
Robinson, after many years of singing, recently completed her first recording project. “This album is something I felt God wanted me to do,” Robinson stated. “The CD is a total of nine songs and it was seven songs that I wrote that God had spoken into my spirit. The album consists really of a cross section of all the musical styles from tradition to contemporary and praise,” Robinson added.
Robinson’s desire to do this project stems from a desire to leave a legacy that will remind her children, family and others to always walk in Christ and to Praise the Lord.
On November 24, at 5:00 PM, Thelma Robinson will be featured in concert as she makes the first presentation of the new recording project entitled, “Waiting On The Lord.” Anyone attending this concert is in for a powerful experience with the Holy Spirit during this moment of song and praise.
Robinson has served this community, sincerely, spiritually and very diligently. As one of the cornerstones that God installed at Mt. Anna Church, she has always used her gifts to bless others. Let us come together and show her some love and support for the many years of service she has given. Let’s be a community that embraces our own by allowing God to continue to bless this anointed ministry. Let’s respond to the many years of being ‘touched’ by her ministry by helping Thelma launch this new CD project in a very big way.

"Gospel singer uplifts spirits"

For Thelma J. Robinson, gospel music is much more than just a song. “Gospel as a whole inspires me, and it is a message I think needs to be carried across the land”, Robinson said. “The type of music I write and singe gives people hope in these hard times when spirits need uplifting and hearts need mending. It is all Bible-based and it is something we can stand on.”

Robinson has been singing gospel since she was eight and never stopped. “God has placed it on my heart to sing this type of music”, said Robinson, who has been singing professionally for two and a half years. “I’ve lived here all my life and developed a fan base singing at different churches around the area.”

Robinson sings gospel, praise and worship as well as contemporary music. She has released two CDs. The first is called “Waiting On The Lord.” Her second CD is “Heal The Land.” The first album is more traditional, written out of a struggle and more vocal,” Robinson said. “The second is more praise and worship giving glory to God.”

Last weekend, she traveled to Hollywood, Calif., for a Gospel Showcase. “In Hollywood, I had a chance to get some inside information and meet the CEO of Gospel Insider,” Robinson said. “It is not so much selling the CD as it is the idea of moving people and getting the message out. It is about blessing people and hopefully I will be blessed in the long run. I feel blessed.”

Robinson hopes to share the same love of gospel she was given by her grandmother, the late Missouri H. Wimberly. “She was a great, great singer and we all lived in the home together- I learned - a lot from her,” Robinson said. “Those traditional songs – I just love them.” Robinson writes her own music which can vary greatly in its style and mood.

“I think it is divine inspiration,” Robinson said. “I write one line at a time and get all of the lines together before I work with a time.” Both of Robinson’s CD can be purchased at Haven of Rest Christian Bookstore, Green’s Christian Bookstore, and CDBaby.com. On Thursday, Robinson was the featured performer during the North Augusta Cultural Arts Council Concerts in the Park at Creighton Living History Park.

Bio

Even though "Waiting On The Lord" is Thelma's debut CD, her Christian journey has rendered musical selections throughout the East Coast for many years. Thelma takes much pride in being an active participant in just a few of the organizations listed: Christian Music Presenters, Gospel Music Association, Chapters Ark (London). WomenMinistry.NET, Urban Gospel Alliance and more.

Even with the success of "Waiting On The Lord", Thelma's musical territory expanded with her sophomore project CD project "Heal The Land", which debuted in November 2003. Robinson's latest CD embarks upon the sounds of contemporary and a bit of seasoned, old-time gospel music, which is evident in the Mahalia Jackson sound of "New Creature", featured on "Heal The Land".

Although Thelma's audience has always embraced her traditional style, "Heal The Land" has proven to be a chart-topping success on the radio waves. Robinson's "Lord We Worship You" continues to make high marks on radio stations throughout the southeast. With a new direction and a fresh outlook on life, God has put Thelma's writing abilities back to work on her latest release.

In October of 2006, Thelma was blessed with the opportunity to host the Higher Praise and Worship Conference, which featured the dynamic Willie Mae Rivers, General Supervisor of the Women's Department of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. and the awesome Elder Bernice King of the New Birth Baptist Church, Lithonia, GA and the youngest daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mrs. Coretta Scott King.

Later that winter, Thelma's musical projects were featured at the final tribute services for "The Godfather of Soul" James Brown in Augusta, GA, which were personally chosen by his family.

Thelma firmly believes that without the knowledge of one's past history, people cannot successfully progress into the future. "Music is a voice that my ancestors used to express their hardships to each other and to God. I used that same music to express my feelings to God and the world".
