"Satisfied customer"

Tears of joy
author: Ben R. Johnson
Brotha's & sista's be fairly warned that this cd will make you realize that the recording industry has been spoon feeding us crap while the real artist such as London Arrington has been tucked away. Say hello to a new day and welcome this truly gifted artist into his rightful place above the half true so called (manufactured)artist filling the airwaves. Take a listen to this cd and be reminded what true music use to be about. More than that, be thankful that London Arrington remembered what true music was about while putting these songs together for our listening pleasure

Bio

The vocal techniques of Nat King Cole, the tonal fluidity of Johnny Hartman, the ability to personalize a composition like Louis Armstrong, the soulful inflections of Marvin Gaye, and the ability to delicately dance around the notes of a melody like Sarah Vaughn are all goals that London continuously strives for. Also, like Jay-Z, his ever-evolving state of mind to lace chord progressions and intricate beats with meaningful and provocative lyrics that are infused with the experiences and life lessons about the maturation of a young hustler who has evolved into a spiritual businessman will always be present in his music. The desire to make the listener feel the composition as if the lyrics are autobiographical is what London’s goal is each time he sings. The willingness to ride the ebb and flow of a composition’s chord progressions into the uncharted land of improvisation is an adventure that he will readily set sail for every time the tune leaves the dock on a musical expedition. That exploration is what he lives for. London has created an energetic hybrid of Jazz, Soul, Funk, and Hip Hop beats that keeps the crowd listening, singing along, grooving, and moving from start to finish!!

Playing the trombone during his formative years gave London the affinity for the warm, strong, and soothing tones that are present when he sings. The richness of a well played trombone is the benchmark that this vocalist strives for with each note that is heard by the audience. His fascination with Marvin Gaye’s infatuation with being a crooner has made him delve into soulful interpretations of classic jazz standards while still maintaining the classic framework of those compositions as would Johnny Hartman, Nat King Cole or Frank Sinatra. His playfulness and his ability to connect with the audience give you the same feeling that one may get while watching footage of Louis Armstrong during one of his performances. He creates such a companionable atmosphere and the audience seems to become friends with him and the music by the end of the show.

Being under the guidance and tutelage of composer/musician/vocalist Wycliffe Gordon has afforded this vocalist a wealth of knowledge and opportunity. London Arrington has performed with some of the top musicians in the world. His experiences with veteran and acclaimed musicians like Gordon, Reginald Veal, Herlin Riley, Marcus Printup, Scotty Barnhart, Chris Crenshaw, Winard Harper, Alvin Atkinson, and several other musicians from Jazz at Lincoln Center orchestra and around the world have given him the knowledge and confidence that is needed to lead the band, as well as, the humility to follow that same band to a musical utopia. London’s goals are to strive for the level of excellence that his influences achieved, ultimately find his own style and interpretation of the classic jazz and pop standards, and compose originals that will stand the tests of time. His mission is to preserve the integrity and elegance of jazz and to make the music comfortable and entertaining for those who are visiting the art form for the first time. Welcome to the music…
Welcome to A. London Arrington.
