Bio

Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Chris Koster is The Lonely. A rare talent in an era of formulaic, uni-dimensional, cookie-cutter sameness, The Lonely stands out as an artist the likes of which is rarely witnessed or experienced. A truly gifted artist and prolific songwriter, he is a multiple-threat on keyboard, guitar and vocals. His experimental style continues in the tradition of the likes of Prince and Trent Reznor - a self-contained, self-produced visionary. He seamlessly generates his musical conceptions by virtue of the themes found in many of his songs - in solitary, making him a veritably indie artist. He often plays every instrument on his albums, yet is still open to bringing others along for the ride to potentially lend a different vibe to his vision.

Having worked with the likes of Bob Ezrin (Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd, Kiss, Jane’s Addiction), and Mark Makoway (Moist, David Usher, Great Big Sea), The Lonely is able to both take direction and give it himself. He wrote over a hundred and twenty songs to prepare for his first album ("Secrets of the Lonely"), while for the follow-up ("Sex, Love and Morality") his songwriting style developed to be more selective after Ezrin helped challenge him and better hone his craft. His latest album is a 7-song EP entitled "Let Somebody Save Your Life," a sincerely honest and organic effort that was recorded in his living room and released as a commerce-free, online-only album (the first of 4 albums released every 3 months this year), so that any interested listener could have unlimited access to the range of his current offerings.

In the past The Lonely has shared gigs with, or opened up for, such bands or artists as Gord Downie, David Usher, The Watchmen, Neverending White Lights, illscarlett, Public, Dallas Green, and more. His experience in the industry is extensive, and as a live performer, both solo and with band, he proves to be mesmerizing and truly arresting, making an impression that is surely not to be forgotten.
