"Noise - June 2005"

"Not as forlorn or romance-oriented as the name implies, this duo captures the isolation of traveling alone and offers fleshed-out snapshots of city life with equal ease. They bring a Neil Young-like maturity to the potential naivete of drone pop." - SF Guardian

Bio

After seeing Jason Lytle of Grandaddy perform a set on a keyboard with his drummer in tow, we decided to make this band. Lytle and the drummer possessed the weirdness of Grandaddy but the songs were boiled down to something more pure than the full band and that inspired us.

We both love music that is earnest (Neil Young/Creedence/The Velvets) as well as music that is spacey (Pink Floyd, Earlimart). We figured that if we formed a band we could bridge the gap between interesting, honest folk music and spacey, textured rock. So we picked up the 12-string and some synthesizers and gave it a shot.

We have released an EP (2004) and an LP is due out in August 2005 on DIY or Else Records. We regularly tour in California; did a Summer 2004 East Coast tour; and will soon embark on our Summer 2005 East Coast tour.
