Bio
The Long Holidays pen story songs with a razor wit and an adventurous spirit. Led by daytime scientist, nighttime songwriter, Jim Man o' War, the band covers both fictional and factual accounts of astronauts, sailors, submarines, and spies, while howling like coyotes, waxing poetic about a fall day, and breaking into romantic tunes for food channel chef Paula Deen.
With grade-A lyrics, The Long Holidays cook up a stir-fry of Johnny Cash americana, driving indie-rock, haunting surf melodies, and jangly ukulele rhythms. To top it all off, they fill their live sets with stories, unexpected covers, and audience led percussion sections.
Completing the lineup and arrangements are Andy Worshill (Bass, Trombone), Kevin Engelking (Piano/Drums) and Sean Garnreiter (Trumpet).
Jim and his crew are based in Los Angeles, and take small tours in a retired police cruiser. In 2010 and 2011 they self-released 'The Adventure Through Liquid Space’ and the 'Through Two Lenses - EP' respectively. In addition, they have contributed music to two independent films (It's Hard To Talk To Girls, Masked), and won Check Your Focus's first theme contest for their VideoSong 'Lazy Day'.
The Long Holidays are an independent gem, a funny and high energy act with thoughtful songs, great stories, and many great adventures ahead of them.
