Bio

Fresh from supporting 'I Am Kloot' at Manchester Cathedral and with a new album "The Big Light Secret" in the bag, 2011 promises to be a big ol' year for the band.
Featuring Stuart Anthony on vocals and guitar, Matt Appleton on lead guitar, Oscar Armer on bass and Greg Maddox on percussion and Peter French sessioning keyboards for the album too. Paul Walmsley is the band's producer.
They supported Mercury Prize nominees 'I Am Kloot' on 3rd December 2010 at Manchester Cathedral. The band started recording a new album (a third album for Stuart) earlier this year and it is now finished. First listens of 'The Big Light Secret' show a fascinating change in direction that still has an acoustic edge. The band have had encouraging support from artists like I Am Kloot and The Icicle Works frontman, Ian McNabb http://www.thevisitor.co.uk/lifestyle/ice_to_see_you_to_see_you_ice_1_2227148 who have heard cuts from the forthcoming album and have been using phrases such as "Brilliant stuff, YES!" and "Incredible songs mate, we want to help!" There is major label interest and movers and shakers have been already asking for copies when it's finished. The band supported Ian McNabb in October 2010.

"Whack, i've woken up in 1970.

Which is strange cos I actually did awaken in 1970, this tune, could have been on the radio when I was born, WAIT don't stop reading, this ain't no throwback band, this isn't a song lost in time, this is a tune that's modern, "Fleet Foxes" stylee, if "The Shins" can do it so can Stuart Anthony's Long Lost Band.

This song goes forth with wild psychedelic structures, it drags you in and plonks you down right in your middle of your favourite dream. I can fully imagine feeling a million miles from anywhere with this song blasting from the stage at a live show.

This song is 7 minutes and 41 seconds long, but it's 461 seconds of joy. The genre is acoustic, but the vibe is electric, the bass drives it along like a summers day, i'm visualising fields of daisies and vw camper vans with the words spinning around in my chilled out head.

You get all the Neil Young, Tim Buckley influences, I don't know where all these amazing bands are popping up from, but this one is top of my list.

It leaves me buzzing, leaves me wanting more, I can't wait for this album to get released if this is anything to go by, i'm hooked already."

Acoustic Magazine March 2010
"STUART SAYS HE SOUNDS LIKE HIMSELF AND THAT’S TRUE......FOR ALL THE INFLUENCES, THERE ARE NO CONVENIENT COMPARISONS TO BE MADE...... THE BEST FEATURE OF HOUSE OF SUN IS ITS SHEER UNPREDICTABILITY. I’VE LISTENED TO IT THREE TIMES AND I’M JUST GETTING IT......IT’S A RECORD I CAN’T IGNORE AND THAT’S RARE THESE DAYS.”
ROCK N REEL MAGAZINE-JULY 2009
"SIMPLICITY AND PATIENCE AND A REAL ELEGANCE TO ITS SOUND. SUPERB PRODUCTION REALLY HELPS BRING THE SONGS ON IT PERFECTLY TO LIFE. A LAID BACK DEMEANOUR SHINES THROUGH OUT, AND, WITH THE BUCKLEY-ESQUE TITLE TRACK SETTING THE PACE, YOU QUICKLY START TO SEE THAT ANTHONY IS A CUT ABOVE THE REST OF THE ACOUSTIC ACTS THAT ARE OUT THERE."
PENNYBLACKMUSIC-JUNE 2009
