"Fest Fields Music Day"

MARBURG music legend Greg McHugh will perform alongside other locals at the Grotto Fest in his hometown this Saturday, October 22.
His show, Loose & Nasty Story fields a special blend of high-paced rhythms that span blues, roots, rock and punk. McHugh is known for his
dexterity with a range of instruments including harmonica, mandolin and
bongos. When he performs, people can’t keep still. With the twin aims of supporting local musicians and raising funds to help local families in need, the Grotto Fest sprang up in 2008 and has become more popular every year. Founder Tony Cross said this year was shaping up to be the best ever. The Grotto Fest is 12 hours of live and local music, performed across two stages set in a natural bushland amphitheatre.
This year, acts include A French Butler Called Smith, Nicky Bomba, Transvaal Diamond Syndicate, The Dave Flower Band, Mojo Webb Levic, Sub Judice, Kirsti Falconer, Dollarbird Drive and Green Gin
Baby. McHugh will play on the main stage at 6.15pm. Gates open at 11am at Jay-Lee Park, 16 Edmond St, Marburg. Kids under 15 get in free and campers will be catered for. To book, go to www.oztix.com.au
Inquiries can be directed to 0431 860 990.

After playing in a range of different bands since an early age including folk, blues and rock bands, Greg decided to pursue a solo career in 2006 which became the birth of the ‘The Loose & Nasty Show’. He has developed, perfected and refined his skills in playing the drum kit, guitar, lap slide, harmonica, mandolin, the rota toms and bongos simultaneously, transferring his live show into a unique display of spectacular coordination and high paced rhythms! Greg’s performance of blues, roots, punk and rock, is simply a high energy, foot-tapping and up-lifting show, guaranteed to raise even the most staunched couch potatoes!

Greg’s songs are delivered honestly and humbly, touching on themes of love, surfing, conservation and good old’ fashioned fun! Greg has an amazing talent for writing inspiring and provoking lyrics, beautifully complimented by the thumping rhythms of the base drum and catchy melodies.

Unforgettable performances include a fantastic opening to the Wallaby Creek Festival, Bluesfest Byron 2011, Black Snake Creek Festival, Grotto Festival, Evermore Festival, Royal Mail, Mermaid Tavern, Tempo in Fortitude Valley, Valley Transmission, Shed 5 @ Burleigh, Blues Festival – Busking Competition and various and various private functions throughout South East Qld.
