The Lord's Witness

BandHip HopGospel

The Lord's Witness is a passionate, powerful hip-hop delivery of the gospel presented with a heartfelt style and "live" music. For the religous and the non-religious Witness provides quality music with a voice full of conviction and confidence!

Biography

The Lord's Witness began his music recording career with his group "Cloven Tongues". Joining Witness for this project were producer/artist Microterus, Voice, and Surreal The Fisherman. They released their debut album "The Celebration" in 2000, then the follow up, "Sound of the Rushing Mighty Wind" in 2003. Both projects were recorded and released independently without the soliciting any label or distribution. Now in 2007, The Lord's Witness is back with his debut solo EP entitled "What The Game Needs!" produced by his longtime producer Microterus. Influenced by his conviction that hip-hop needs a "Witness" to make quality music that represents the values and beliefs of the church, Witness is prepared to be a voice of distinction.
Witness was raised in the church and at an early age recieved the call of God into the ministry. As a young preacher he battled many temptations and experienced the tests that go along with being raised in the inner city.
His group Cloven Tongues spread the message of forgiveness of sins though Jesus Christ and the filling of the Holy Spirit by faith. Witness continues with this same message and looks foward to upcoming group projects as well.

Lyrics

"Bamboozled"

Written By: Louis E. Jackson

Intro (3x): What's real what's real what's real to you

Chorus: Who's been talking in your eardrum giving you the gas like you needed fuel know you about to see the tomb
Who's selling you th hoopla got your mind blinded material minded and all
Who's been showing you a green light when its a train coming full speed ahead for your brain
Who's the hoodwinker that got you bamboozled tricked up until you tripped up and stuck

Verse 1:
i want to know I want to know who it is that swears to you that he's telling you the truth
Telling you its raining when he's pissing off the rooftop
Then you hot cause your drenched with urine cause your in
Something that you never planned to be in my friend
That's the entrapment and the slick tactics of sin
His bodies craving looking for a mate and play pen
Late night scenery intoxicating
Glanced at her jeans they were real seductive
He trying to be a friend never mind a husband
Be careful with that was his man's suggestion
He don't want a fam so he wears protection
Three weeks past and her names forgotten
She calls him up crying he thinks she plotting
It was a one night stand you ain't make no promise
But every single morning now I gotta vomit
I know you think I'm hot that's just once in a while
Your the only on I'm sure that this is your child
Sure so she raises him alone
Cause she don't know holmes on the end of that phone
All he really wanted was a friend for the night
Now she digging in his check like his wife
Thru child support and its only right
Its only right right
Yup its only right

Chorus (2x)
He was bamboozled by the lust of his eyes
He was bamboozled by her curves and her thighs
He was bamboozled by that glare in her eyes
He was hoodwinked tricked up by surprized

Verse 2:
Disguised as a partner a new friend unproven
You gotta keep your eyes on that new persons movement
The truth is they move in with smoothness
To earn trust all in the name of greed and lust
So if you gotta good friend keeop them close by
The best drinks the old wine these words are so wise
How many brothers done fallen by the wayside
Government time or state crime for paper chase crimes
I'm like who's been talking in your eardrum young man with the mad face
Why you so pissed
And while you wildin out like you got a death wish
Life is short cherish every moment you get son
You got a lot of options besides the videos
Silly flows about cars ice and city clothes
Cause really in our neighborhoods
It ain't too many wearing ice or dressing like its Hollywood
That's fiction most don't fit the description
The cribs drugs earn you is inside a prison
Don't mean to sound preachy or to order yall but
What you swimming in is a waterfall
You want to be wise trust God and not men
Get strength within from the truth's doctrine
And find your identity inside your Creator
Jesus Christ so He can show your worth is greater
So we can be a praise that's the reason that He made us
Holy instruments who don't let the world play us
Unless you want to dance for their circus
Your sins get the guilty verdict
Cause they don't care about your person

Chorus (2x): Who's been talking in your eardrum giving you the gas like you needed fuel know you about to see the tomb
Who's selling you th hoopla got your mind blinded material minded and all
Who's been showing you a green light when its a train coming full speed ahead for your brain
Who's the hoodwinker that got you bamboozled tricked up until you tripped up and stuck

"What The Game Needs!"

Written By: Louis E. Jackson

Chorus: I know what the game needs / I know I know what the game needs - Turn me up turn me up
I know what the game needs / I know I know what the game needs - Turn me up turn me up
Does anybody out there wanna play my song / play my song - play my song
Does anybody out there wanna play my song - Turn me up and I will rock all night long

Verse 1:
Same truth new era - New style New appearance
Same devil - No clearance - it just don't change
Same devil as before til you beat him
Then you've gotta face a new devil
For reaching new levels
But its the same God same truth same faith
So you don't have to hide your face or loose pace
Baby - Its a yes - Not a maybe or a no
Baby you already know
So you might as well dance now
Its the chance for your feet to celebrate and dance
For the victory you should just dance now
Jerk and move for the Lord came thru
He showed and proved- so tell me know what you wanna do
If your in the struggle today - You should still praise God and shake your troubles away
Its the way - cause when we praise the invisible - He shows up
Then our enemies get crushed by the God we trust
So play this here hip-hop - rap song that I spaz on and let loose
Its all about the truth - To set us all free from deciet in our youth
And fortify the soldiers feet with good boots
Now we - ready to march and take over the strong parts
Cause you can measure size but could never measure heart

Chorus: I know what the game needs / I know I know what the game needs - Turn me up turn me up
I know what the game needs / I know I know what the game needs - Turn me up turn me up
Does anybody out there wanna play my song / play my song - play my song
Does anybody out there wanna play my song - Turn me up and I will rock all night long

Verse 2:
My song is the melody of dancing angels
And the people of God that done found they breakthru
The voice of the filthy found not guilty
The verse of the idiots who got acquitted with
Evidence because of the way Christ represents
Us on the cross He paid all costs
That's my song - so sing my song
As we bless Jesus Christ's name all night long

Bridge 2x:
Same truth new era - New style New appearance
Same devil - No clearance - it just don't change

Verse 3:
Truth and realism - Hooks with real feeling
These bars are about lifes scars and true healing
I'm thru dealing - its not more than a few willing
To learn this craft instead of the witchcraft
Being passed as hip-hop
The fans out of gas so they taking a pit-stop
I fill them with fuel - like Exxon
We rest on the name Jesus
Makes our sins like teflon with spiritual weapons
But who wants the truth when a lie sounds better with no proof
While prophets pretend to be mute
While the platform is set for fools
As they ramble they corny songs and radios politely amused
To give airplay - I swear what's on the airways
Be the same 20 songs for sixty days
Now Connecticut is in on the move
Trying to walk in New York shoes
And play the songs New York do
What the game needs Is new players
cause the old ones banged knees and can't jump above the rim
While the Godlike ride with Him
And we ain't looking for an empty grave now we got His Spirit within
So we move like the sounds of a hurricaine with such sound
That its earth shaking so it moves the crowd

"Dreamer Push It Out!"

Written By: The Lord's Witness

Intro: U gotta dream lil mama get a plan
U gotta idea do it lil man
Let this song serve as a reminder to you
That dreams with perseverance do come true

Verse1: Be aware of them dream takers They try to tell u that your dreams
Too hard to achieve Cause they don't believe
Man please U only get one life to live it
So love u better get it! lil homey you better get it!
In the snowfall with frostbitten fingertips
He working on his jump shot trying to flick his wrist
His teacher's telling him his dream ain't legimate
Feeding him all of the facts and percentages
Told him put his ball down and prepare for job
But he loved the game and didn't care about the odds
So he dribbles and shoots hundreds shots a day
Never skips one day he believes he'll play
For the Heat like Wade even though
Homey's only 5'9 and he probably won't grow
Will he make it? Is his time being wasted?
Is dream far fetched? Is it really worth chasing?

Hook:
If u got a dream inside than push it out
Don't let nobody change your mind with their doubts
Dream on dreamer Work hard til u get it
Dream on dreamer Keep going til u finish

Verse 2:Can't nobody tell me I ain't a MC
Cause I don't get video play on MTV
I'm a spend my own checks and I don't need a deal
All I need is a voice so I can speak God's will
So I grinded out a 4 song single
Put in a black bag, then I sold it on the ave
Sold it in the salons and barbershops -
Got permission from the owners so they never called the cops
The haters laughed and mocked but I ain't never stop
Never paused cause I understand my dream is for the cause
Of the gospel - The impossible gets done
If your faith is unstoppable you can overcome
So called up the radio told them to play my song!
Until they played it I sang my song!
I ain't let nobody take my dream cause its mine
It was given from God so that makes divine
And I'm still dreaming!

Hook:
If u got a dream inside than push it out
Don't let nobody change your mind with their doubts
Dream on dreamer Work hard til u get it
Dream on dreamer Keep going til u finish

Verse 3: He hopped on a plane and left the state
Without a job arranged he envisioned his fame
He went from myspace dreamin to fans straight screaming
Took his music off his page and now they all phening
He ain't a word from the fake friends until
The dream left his mind and it became something real
Now they all walking inside of another man's vision
And want a peice of pie cause the taste is live
Like its whipped cream mixed with with strawberries inside
But he ain't mad at 'em man cause it was is his time
So even when they ignore you
It hurts even more when comes from the ones that you thought would support you
They ain't see the vision cause its yours to own
The road less travelled oftens walked alone
So still give love to the non-supporters
As you pursue your dream knowing God is for you

Hook:
If u got a dream inside than push it out
Don't let nobody change your mind with their doubts
Dream on dreamer Work hard til u get it
Dream on dreamer Keep going til u finish

Verse 4: From the Apollo to American idol
At every open mic session u best believe that shortie was reppin
Signed on the dotted line to a 5 year deal
They threw her album on the shelf said she lacked appeal
She would cry through the night cause she wasn't fulfilled
Punching that Express register to pay them bills
She had the look - the voice but 1 bad choice
And her dream got sold ain't that cold
Life gets cold but she ain't stop fighting
People wrote her off but she ain't stop writing
5 years past and she gained a little weight
Got back in the gym training hard for the stage
Making up for lost time on a independent grind
When she sat at they table she turned downed the labels
Got with God and a team that believed in her dream
Now she travels the world and she doing God's thing

(If God meant for you to do it, gave you the ability to get it, who can tell you no? Its God's thing.)

These are the stories of determination

Faith is the substance of a hoped for thing
The proof of that we can acheive the unseen
So step in your dream don't sleep while your dreamin
Step in your dream don't wait while your dreamin
