"Intricate harmonic arrangements, a clear appreciation of music in all forms from classical to cabaret to art-rock, and smart, ambitious instincts make this instantly memorable music with an ultimately unified sound." - Dave Marsh

"All Music Guide"

"you wonder why these guys aren't on year-end lists." - Jason MacNeil

"SD Troubadour"

"brought me back to a time when radio didn't suck" - Mike Alvarez

"These guys took the song (Surfer Girl, Beach Boys) and claimed it as their own, and the vision is life enhancing. Radio programmers around the nation are stealing something fantastic for people driving around in their cars this summer if they do not include this on their playlists." - Rich Soos

"San Diego CityBeat"

"This is how displaced and countrified pop should sound." - Caley Cook

"Winery Music Awards (live review)"

"Kid Rock meets Doug Kershaw, Frank Zappa meets Jethro Tull. Young people would like this! Randy Newman Prarie Home Companion!" - Kenny Lee Lewis (guitarist, Steve Miller Band)

"Impact Press"

"The lilting, almost sad songs remind me a lot of Son Volt and Travis. This is really, really solid disc of pop-country tunes, a la The Jayhawks." - Sean Helton

"Santa Cruz Good Times"

"... a true band of the new millennium" - Damon Orion

"Comfort Comes"

"They have a lot of sensitivity and a good yearning quality to their songs" - Juliet Robertson

"Pop Matters"

"Gorgeous melodies and a lot of soul are the order of the day thanks to the duo of Derric Oliver and Louis Caverly." - Brian James

The California-based duo has won considerable praise for their independent releases and notoriously crazed live performances.

In April 2008 they released two new albums, Songs for Feeling Strong (EP), and Greek Gods in the West (CD + DVD ‘Live from the Henry Miller Library, Big Sur, CA’). Both were recorded in June, 2007 (with drummer, Michael Taylor Hahn) at Al Jardine’s (Beach Boys) Red Barn Studios in Big Sur, CA.

“We wanted our next albums to reflect the spirit of the band’s time on the road,” explains Oliver, “so we threw a party for some of our closest friends and recorded the basic tracks.” Both albums were produced by The Los Dos Bros and mixed by Mark Needham (The Killers, Chris Isaak, Green Day, Fleetwood Mac).

They are truly, as Damon Orion from the Santa Cruz Good Times puts it, “a true band of the new millennium.”
