Bio

The mercury had dipped to -17°C that fateful night in the winter of 2008. Mere mortals had long since turned in for bed but had they wiped the frost off their windows and peered outside they would have seen three silhouettes on the Fairmount Park ice rinks; three men flooding the ice, passing the flask, and deep in conversation. These were no ordinary men, these three were members of the legendary Fairmount Park Icemasters, a heroic group of neighbourhood volunteers who, winter after winter, brave the elements to maintain the ice surfaces at Fairmount Park in Toronto’s east end. As they tended to the rhythm of the flood that night, their conversation wasn’t about hockey or beer – it was about music. Canadian roots music, the music that inspired them. The music that they all liked to play. As they adjourned to their neighbourhood pub, McCarthy’s, they agreed: “We need to play together some time”.

That 'some time' came in the fall of 2008. It was a magical musical moment when the three discovered, not only a common repertoire, but also an uncanny capacity to intuitively blend voices and trade guitar leads. Four years later, now playing as The Lost boys, David Camps, Warner Clarke, and Jeff Smylie have been joined by fellow Icemaster Josh Weisz on bass and Nancy “Two Sticks” Flood on drums
