Bio
The Lost Society is a West London based alternative band fronted by itinerant performer Joseph James. James left a touring orchestra aged 20 to study flamenco in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, southern Spain before returning to London to work as a guitar for hire. He teamed up with long term musical cohort and Jazz bassist Ben Hillyard. The two have played in numerous bands together and stuck together through much touring and the long and painful break up of their previous band.
They have now teamed up with Greg Rawson on drums/percussion and are
gigging hard to promote next week’s debut EP release, The Loneliness of The Long distance Runner. Together with keys, violins and sometimes sax or second guitar you have the full Lost Society lineup.
With varied musical upbringings the band take their influences from most things, particularly Americana, country blues and latin music. They are also known to enjoy banging out the odd Rockabilly number, a Sea shanty or to add a touch of Tango to the repertoire. Not without a sense of the theatrical the band can be seen playing in and around London from now until the summer.
