 Phoenix, Arizona, USA
BandRockPop

"Departing from the niche of sixties garage retro, The Love Me Nots, two girls and two boys from Arizona, have progressively evolved into a powerful, melodic, seductive rock outfit. The garage doors are now open." - Rolling Stone (FR) 2011, "The Love Me Nots: Band On The Run" (4-page feature story)

Biography

With its modern take on raging fuzz, Spector-esque pop, and hints of new wave, The Love Me Nots burn down the garage on their fourth record, The Demon and The Devotee.

The Demon and The Devotee is available on 180-gram limited-edition orange vinyl with downloads (Project Infinity Records), CD (Bad Reputation - Europe, Atomic A Go Go - US), and digitally on iTunes, CdBaby, Digstation, and Amazon.

Based in Phoenix but produced in Detroit by Jim Diamond (White Stripes, Electric Six, Dirtbombs), The Love Me Nots are made up of singer-organist Nicole Laurenne, guitarist Michael Johnny Walker, bassist Sophie O, and drummer Jay Lien.

Formed in 2006, the DIY band has released four full-length albums and a recent album of remixes, gone into heavy rotation on Sirius Radio, charted in the CMJ Top 100, had tracks placed on television shows and compilations, saw the European re-release of its entire discography, toured Europe three times, and maintained a consistent touring schedule throughout major cities all over the United States.

"Best Rock of 2011" - Portal Rock Press (Brazil)

"Best Garage Song of 2011" - KWSS TMI Rock Local Awards

"Departing from the niche of sixties garage retro, The Love Me Nots, two girls and two boys from Arizona, have progressively evolved into a powerful, melodic, seductive rock outfit."
- Rolling Stone (FR), "The Love Me Nots: Band On The Run," 2011

"The Demon and The Devotee: Enthusiastic as hell; furiously hammering blows of killer riffs and organ loops, perfect for barbecue parties on the beach this summer. Novices should be conquered automatically."
- Rolling Stone (FR) 2011

"Ghosts of Phil Spector, Blondie, and early Bangles appear furtively before melting into the pop vortex orchestrated by Nicole Laurenne and her accomplices. The result? A magnificent accomplishment, in technicolor. FOUR STARS."
- Rock & Folk (France) April, 2011 (single on comp)

"The Demon and the Devotee represents a sizable sonic leap forward for the Love Me Nots, proving their undeniable relevance as a modern band. One of the best bands in the Southwest."

Move In Tight

Written By: Nicole Laurin (BMI) / Michael Walker (ASCAP)

MOVE IN TIGHT

move a little bit closer
yeah move in tight
slide a little to the left
i'll scoot a little to the right

meet me in the middle
meet me halfway
well alright
move in tight
yeah baby alright
just move in tight

hold me just a little harder
yeah hold me tight
i like it when we're getting started
make everything just right

meet me in the city
meet me at the station
well alright
move in tight
yeah baby alright
just move in tight

meet me in the hallway
i'll show you the way
well hey hey
yeah baby alright
just move in tight

You're Really Something

Written By: N. Laurenne (BMI) & M. Walker (ASCAP)

You got me thinking 'bout tomorrow
You got me wondering
Building hope from bricks of sorrow
You know you got me wanting - yeah

You know you're really something
You got my heart pumping
I feel a change coming
You're really getting me into something

They say I've got a heart of stone
But it's a heart of ice
You melt me baby so I know
Your love is like a blazing fire - yeah

You got me wondering 'bout tomorrow
No longer thinking now
Each little step you take I'll follow
You got me where you want me now

You Don't Know A Thing About Me

Written By: N. Laurenne

Way back when, you were larger than life
Back then, my heart would flutter when you walked by
But I've learned the hard lessons now
So far up and so far down
No, boy, I'm not the girl I used to be
And you, you don't know a thing about me

Way back then, I hung on every word you said
I believed all the little white lies I was fed
I've been to the end and back around
I've been up and I've fallen down
No, boy, I'm not the girl I used to be
And you, you don't know a thing about me

Your pretty face, you charming ways
Won't work on me
Won't work on me
I gotta get away
Boy, can't you see that I've changed
And you, you don't know a thing about me

You're Bringing Me Down

Written By: N. Laurenne

Stop bringing me down, we go round and round
I'm losing my interest, you're losing your ground
You don't see and you don't hear
the way you are and it's all too clear
I'm begging you please
stop pushing me around

You're bringing me down
Baby bringing me down down down
You're bringing me down

You gotta have the last word, gotta have the last shout
You turn my words inside and out
I can try to shut you down
but somehow you just follow me around
getting under my skin
and stressing me out

You’ve given me nothing but a headache
And I'm finished fussing with this heartache
I'm shaking my head and rolling my shoulders
But there's no remedy there's no getting over
this big mistake
I want you out of my head

Train Wreck

Written By: N. Laurenne / M. Walker

Train Wreck

V1
i’m still the same train
wrecked as i’ve ever been
i mourn the decembers and
i cry for the spring
he’ll love me nevermore
with the fire of before
it’s a dead-bang bloody mess
this train’s always in for

C
never wanted anyone like this
never burned for another’s kiss
never felt such perfect bliss
never had such a lover
i am heading for the tunnel
all my love spilling on the clover
oh my god
please make the train go faster
let it wreck and be over, over

V2
love smiles and it lingers
till my heart is at ease
and my hope blooms
then it runs right over me
when it’s too late to flee
the sky blue and cloudless
the tracks clear and straight
the crash hits without warning
it’s my unchangeable fate
