Bio

In an age of conformity, Tony C’de Baca proves that a talented individualist can still succeed. A soulful iconoclast, Tony is a hit songwriter, a well-studied instrumentalist, and an acclaimed performer/recording artist -- all achievements earned while burning his own path instead of playing by the accepted rules of the music industry. Fusing the rhythmic ideals of R&B, Latin, Hip-Hop, and good old Rock n’ Roll with the melodic hooks of old-school soul and Pop America, he has found a niche in the unrelenting sea of singer/songwriter sound-alikes. Tony's band The Lush Life, which includes bass player and multi-instrumentalist Chris Jaramillo, and Miguel Velasquez on drums, are established veterans of the Southwestern touring circuit and are no strangers to great stage showmanship. Audiences from Santa Fe to LA, from Denver to Austin, and all places near and in between find themselves awestruck with Tony's humor and warm, relaxing style of storytelling. Having fronted The Lush Life for 5 years and two other bands for 5 years previous to that, he has called the road his home for a third of his life. The Lush Life have garnered a strong and consistent following and have attained many an accolade such as: Best Band in Northern Colorado at Scene Magazine’s Battle of the Bands (Which hailed over 25 bands from Boulder, Denver, Colorado Springs and Fort Collins); Budweiser True Music Champions for the Southwest Region; and “Band Most Likely to Make It”, Fort Collins Coloradoan. The group’s debut album, less than yesterday, was written, arranged and co-produced by Tony, and has gained national attention and Clear Channel airplay in Ohio, Alaska, Colorado, Arizona, Nebraska, New Mexico. It was also named Best Album of the Year by KCSU in Fort Collins. Meanwhile, Tony and The Lush Life will continue to plunge into different venues and assorted audiences across the country in hopes that soon, real musicians will outlast the fraudulent sounds of the industry clones and bring back the integrity music once had.
