The first offering from the Whitby based Mad Murdocks, the Going Long 7" is an upbeat and powerful album that deserves a listen. The album was released by Get Party! Records out of London, Ontario Canada. The A-side's first track "Going Long" throws the listener into the intensity of these Ontario punk rockers. A driving beat that's great to pump in the car or blast in your headphones when you're cruising along on your skateboard. "Push" follows the first track and is another high energy song with a great sing-along chorus.
Flip to the B-side and The Mad Murdocks keep up the driving pace of this album with "Poison Control" and "Better Off". Due to the fact that these two great songs are B-sides, they can hardly be considered as such. This band will be touring in support of this album, so keep an eye peeled for their concert dates. Bio
The town of Whitby outside Toronto, Ontario is an excitement suck-hole. Unless you play hockey or lacrosse, or pressure your kids to play hockey or lacrosse, there isn'tt much to do. This is where The Mad Murdocks are from and why the band formed. The members needed something to keep them busy in a place devoid of anything cool.
The band started in 2009 with the current line up has been together since the fall of 2011. They play fast, energetic music influenced by the body of punk as a whole, taking inspiration form 77, 82, and contemporary times. These factors contribute to a fresh, yet familiar sound. Live, the band delivers an energetic show, full of sweating, running, jumping and singing-a-longs. Their shows are totally a fun
time and the band loves to play.
The band released their debut 7" in February 2013 on Get Party Records. They plan to record in the summer with a release to follow. Also in the works this summer is an
Ontario/Quebec tour.
