Who are The Manic Shakes?
The Manic Shakes are a foursome of disaster rock loving super humans hailing from Canada’s rock and roll capital (A.K.A. Winnipeg MB). Their sound has been described as “dirty, punk rock-inflected garage pop punctuated by giant, Dinosaur Jr. Guitars”. Featuring ex-members of Fists In, Ex Modern Teen, Mary Jane Stole My Girl and Mama Funk, The Manic Shakes have been rockin, rollin and leaving destruction in their wake since 2010.
In 2012 they released their debut Self Titled 7', which went to # 1 on both the CKUW and UMFM charts and elicited favorable reviews from Stylus Magazine and Uptown Magazine. Somewhere amidst the hoopla they found the time to make a music video for their song “Fire Hazard” and play numerous shows in and around Winnipeg. Some highlights being: getting to open for The Slates from Edmonton AB, and The Secret Broadcast from Toronto ON, and rocking the Canada Day Streetfest in Osborne Village.
What’s next for these “chaos rock” obsessed madmen? Well, they have their sophomore 7” coming down the pipe in the spring, maybe an E.P. in the fall and a couple of surprises thrown in for good mesure. So, If you’ve been waiting for a band to make music exciting again, keep your eyes on The Manic Shakes, you wont be disappointed.
