Originating from Naples in Southern Italy, The Mantra ATSMM' ("The Mantra Above The Spotless Melt Moon")'s four members, Adriana Salomone (voice, guitar, piano), Davide Hope Famularo (bass, synth), Maurizio Oliviero (guitars) and Salvio Sibillo (drums) are tied in a friendship dating back to the early days of their lives.
In 2008 they win an important local music competition ("Prove di Rock") and are given the opportunity of recording two tracks with the eventual artistic producer of the band, Luigi Nobile in in his Monochrome Studios. Soon thereafter they release a Vinyl 2-track Split for french record label Aaaargh records, where they share the scene with irish band God is An Astronaut.
Late 2008 they sign a 3 record deal with UK/Italian Label RareNoiseRecords of Giacomo Bruzzo and Eraldo Bernocchi. RareNoiseRecords works with Bill Laswell, Paolo Polcari/Ashtech of Almamegretta, Raiz, Harold Budd, Buckethead and numerous others.
In September 2009, after a year of incredibly dedicated and intense work, the release their first EP, Rooms, featuring the instrumental Single "The Fog", accompanied by the animated video by Anton Octavian, and a track written with Eugene Robinson of Oxbow ("A Friend With A Knife") (Neurot Recordings/Hydrahead Records).

During 2009, The Mantra ATSMM do a mini tour of Greece (6 dates) and play about 40 gigs in the South of Italy.
The first half of 2010 is dedicated to the recording of the first full length album of the band, "Defeated Songs", released in May 2010 by RareNoiseRecords with Cargo Distribution.
The first single to appear is "Septembers" , accompanied by a new animation video, always directed by Anton Octavian

The Video relies heavily on rotoscoping techniques and is a finalist in the rumanian festival Anim'est (http://www.animest.ro/anim-est-cluj1.aspx) and the presented to the Mtv awards video competion.
The records is very well received in Italy, and garners enthusiastic reviews. It is displayed on the main page of the Italian National broadcasters' (RAI) music portal, where it receives a very positive review.
May 2010 (two weeks) the band goes on tour in London (5 dates). During that time The Mantra ATSMM write a soundtrack for a new short by danish director Marc-Henry Ellegaard, "The Guardian Angel". The short film's main character is played by Charles Dance, actor of several and well known films and blockbusters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Dance).
From September 2010 two of The Mantra ATSMM's tracks, the unreleased "The Ship" and "Blanca" from Defeated Songs, are featured in a benefit compilation for Mick Karn, among tracks by Colin Edwin of Porcupine Tree, Eraldo Bernocchi, Edward Ka Spel, David Torn and other remarkable artists. The compilation is the brainchild of Howard Wulkan, founder of The Council. (www.councilpartners.com).
Concurrently, the band also record a cover version of "Space Oddity" by David Bowie (http://www.rarenoiserecords.com/free-mantra-atsmm-download).
Shortly thereafter they feature in a Mick Karn benefit concert in Treviso (Villa Benzi Zecchini), together with Italian singer Alice.
In December 2010 sees The Mantra ATSMM do a mini tour of Sicily (5 dates)
In May 2011, the band have been in tour in New York City for 7 gigs between the 7th and the 25th.
The new album of The Mantra ATSMM, Ghost Dance, will be relased in October 2011 by the Anglo-Italian label RareNoiseRecords.
The Mantra ATSMM will be touring Italy opening for Teatro Degli Orrori in 2012
