"The Marc Joseph Band heats up centre stage!"

Canada is rockin' with talent!! Like most big cities around the world, we get our fair share of hard working musicians who work their asses off to get on the airways.

The Marc Joseph Band has been hitting the Canadian scene for the past four years. Working every stage imaginable to cut their teeth. They've been a popular cover band for the most part with a solid and growing fan base. Now they are making the leap with their first original EP.

We were recently invited to their launch party at Toronto's Hard Rock Cafe. Along with a few noted media types like ChumFM and Vinyl. We by-passed the huge line of fans that wrapped around the corner of the building at the very busy core of Yonge Dundas Square.

The Marc Joseph Band took to the stage with ease...a HOT looking bunch too! (er...did I just say that out loud?) But they are more than just looks. Lead singer Marc Joseph comes from a musical family and his love for music came at a young age. As a singer and songwriter, his influences ranges from rock to jazz. He flirts with interpretations and is so comfortable at performing, you can just feel it with women who swoon at his stage presence.

In 2008, he began hand-picking fellow musicians to join him on stage.
David Meffe met Marc early and become a full time musician for the band as back up vocals and a skillful percussionist. Andy Melo plays lead guitar who originally joined the band as a guest artist doing collaborative song writing before securing a full time deal. Dave Ongena was invited to play bass after being recognized with his talents in solo guitar and vocal acoustic sets. Alyssa Delurey is the female lead vocalist. She auditioned for the band in 2010 and has since become a full-time singer and judging by all the happy male members of the audience, she is the finishing touch to this well-rounded group.

Executive producer and recording engineer for the group is Alexander "Sasch" Tukatsch, of Platinum Blonde fame. He teamed up with legendary mix master Richard Chycki, best known for his work with Aerosmith, Mick Jagger, Rush and Simple Plan.

"They've got special talent and a real positive vibe" says Tukatsch.
"I want to see them go

for it and I'll be there to help in whatever way I can. These guys are hardworking, talented and I believe in them. Canadian music fans are going to love them!"

Watching a band perform live is always a great experience. The Marc Joseph Band has passion in the music and they deliver the goods. And that's what it's all about....

Passion...and having fun along the way!

You can listen to their original songs BREATHE and CITY LIGHTS right here.....

The Marc Joseph Band's official website is www.themarcjosephband.ca please visit for downloads and to track their news & events. Keep an eye out for them as they take on the world with current negotiations to play in Vegas, England, Portugal, LA and more! - Urban Moms

"The Marc Joseph Band - Interview"

The Marc Joseph Band

Marc Joseph – Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar
Alyssa Delurey – Lead Vocals
David Meffe – Drums, Backing Vocals
Andy Melo – Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals
Dave Ongena – Bass, Backing Vocals

When it comes to hard-working bands a few names might pop into mind, but one of the hardest working bands I have met in a while has to be The Marc Joseph Band. Marc Joseph started off as a solo musician running an open mic night in Brampton and over the last 4 or 5 years the band has formed from the chance meeting of these very talented musicians who just happened to show up to play. Having now been a band officially for just over 4 years The Marc Joseph Band has made great leaps in their music, live show, professionalism and of course their enormous fan following who truly love the whole band as people as well as musicians. Marc Joseph took some time to talk with me about their new CD Breathe that is available now.

MLM: When did you decide to start working on this album?

MJB: Once the band was fully formed we started by playing cover tunes at a lot of local bars. We were fortunate that when we started playing some original tunes people really enjoyed it and we began to play originals more often. Our team very quickly grew from the 5 members to a whole crew of people helping to promote us and within a years time we were in the studio.

MLM: Tell us about the album?

MJB: The album was recorded with Alexander Sascha Tukatsch the former drummer from Platinum Blonde and was mixed and mastered by Richard Chycki who has done work with Aerosmith, Seal, Rush and Prince just to name a few. After spending a boat load of money we had our album and released it at The Hard Rock to a crowd of over 450 people.

MLM: With regard to the “boat load of money” you spent on the album, was that from your pocket or are you signed with a label?

MJB: No, unfortunately we are not signed to a label. We have been fronting pretty much everything on our own. We have great people around us and we are very clever in terms of marketing and figuring out how to make money with very little. I mean we also did give away $5000 at out CD release at the Hard Rock, and a real person won it (he laughs).

MLM: Wow, that’s very generous.

MJB: Ya, we put up the money for the prize and we gave away a free show to charity which is something we were happy to do and we try to do as much as possible. We are conscious about saying thank you to the people who support us. We are happy to have the ability to give back.

MLM: All of your web content looks great and is all top-notch. How important has that professionalism been to your success?

MJB: It’s one of the biggest pieces to our success. We don’t want to be pretentious by wearing a suit and tie when we meet with clients, but I think it’s just setting the parameters and making sure that you have a structure. It’s very important to our professionalism to know what your mission is every night and to have a game plan to say “this is what is going to bring me to my success”. If I am going to be talking to a business owner at the end of the night do I want to be able to count my money or am I going to be too drunk? Or if someone see’s me on stage, do they want to hear me swearing and yelling? We have a message we are putting out there and its to love each other and to continue uniting as people no matter who you are. Our professionalism is what people love about us and that helps us get our message out there.

MLM: That seems like good advice for other local bands.

MJB: Ya, we call it the added value or wow factor, its what separates us from other bands. We don’t just get up on stage and go through the motions, we entertain the crowd, we engage the staff, we engage the people and we engage the energy there. We have the platform to do that and a lot of people forget that when you’re up on stage you have that power to step up and say “hey, this is how we’re gonna choose to use this power” we’re going to make the night a great event so that everybody leaves happy and friendly and speak about it for days to come. That’s the kind of thing that some bands forget .

Whatever The Marc Joseph Band is doing to gain exposure and success it’s working for them. It’s very apparent from the great showing at their CD release party and the 150 plus shows they perform every year. This is a band that is out to make something special happen and they’re not slowing down for anyone. "Canada's Marc Joseph Band launches summer blockbuster EP"

Canada’s music scene heats up this summer as the Marc Joseph Band prepares to launch its blockbuster EP, Breathe, July 28. While this is the first all-original EP, this high octane band is well known and revered for its interpretation of covers, surprising fans by infusing R& B beats to rock classics and Latin accents to contemporary Top 40 hits.
Fans can definitely believe the hype as the Marc Joseph Band dials up excitement in anticipation of Breathe, a sure-footed creative leap forward for the ethno-Canadian band that never fails to deliver. The EP’s line up boasts the band’s incredible breadth of talent. Songs span a diverse musical landscape, moving effortlessly between sentimental love songs and heart pounding rock.
Its title song, Breathe, is a sure-fire hit, with a memorable chorus and beat; City Lights is an upbeat love ballad with great, unexpected hooks; Man of Steel is summer’s “windows-rolled-down-fist pumping” driving beat; Seasons ventures back to love with a delicate cello accompaniment and Wretched spews sheer epic rock. What a ride!
Production value of Breathe skyrockets thanks to Alexander “Sascha” Tukatsch, of Platinum Blonde fame, who is executive producer and recording engineer for the EP. Tukatsch teamed up with mix and mastering legend Richard Chycki, best known for his work with Aerosmith, Mick Jagger, Rush and Simple Plan, to produce this summer’s unrivalled Can-con for radio and downloads.
"They do music their way," says Tukatsch. "They've got special talent and a real positive vibe. I want to see them go for it and I'll be there to help in whatever way I can. These guys are hardworking, talented and I believe in them. Canadian music fans are going to love them."
The Marc Joseph Band members: Dave Meffe on drums; Andy Melo on lead guitar; Dave Ongena on bass and Marc Joseph on vocals and guitar are drum-tight musically, vocally and spiritually. Alyssa Delurey belts out background vocals and is well used in spotlight moments.
“The EP navigates life’s incredible journey and stares down the obstacles that can get in the way of your own success,” says Marc Joseph who wrote all but one of the songs on Breathe. “It’s an honest, raw look at life without the sugar, without the pretty package. It’s about maintaining your character through adversity, while bobbing and weaving some of life’s sucker punches.”
While the full EP won’t be released until the fall, its title song, Breathe will be available July 28 through major online retailers including iTunes or through the band's website at www.themarcjosephband.ca. This is one fan who can't wait!

"Marc Joseph Band's Original CD a Hit with Fans"

The Hard Rock Café called. It’s looking for its roof.
The Marc Joseph Band blew it up Saturday night with a chartbusting concert that showcased its original music to diehard fans who erupted at the first chord and kept the joint jumping until the final note of the night. The months of crazy hours, exhaustive studio sessions and too many “is it pizza or subs for dinner?” nights while completing the first album all manifested into pure onstage intensity and an outpouring of fan appreciation.
Frontman Marc Joseph led the love-in with his electric moves and signature hair tosses, anointing fans with precious beads of hard-earned sweat. Opening with the title song, Breathe, fans surprised the band by joining in the chorus, “Sometimes I feel like running away from it all.” But no one was giving up any real estate in front of this stage, this night. They were holding on to every inch of their location, location, location. Moving to a slower burn with their second song, Flower in a Box followed by City Lights (a sure-fire hit), the band then fire bombed the senses with the epic, Man of Steel, a Formula 1 thunder alley rush.
They closed out the first set with Reckless, the Canadian party equivalent to Tonight’s Gonna Be a Good Night, sans any Peas and quiet. Fair warning: it won’t be long before university and college kids get in touch with their inner sh_t-disturber kicking it to Reckless, beer in hand and rebel in heart. “What?” They’ll say, blaming their randomness on the Marc Joseph Band’s lyrical permission to tear it up. Parents, get the bail money ready.
The whole concert experience had the wow factor. A great stage lighting system upgraded the show’s presentation while elbow wars at the band’s merchandise tables gave an authentic rock concert feel in between sets. Fans in attendance were all treated to a free copy of the Breathe CD, a generous offer enthusiastically accepted – some would say hoarded – by fans.
Rounding out the intensity on stage was Dave Meffe on drums, Andy Melo on lead guitar, Dave Ongena on bass and Alyssa Delurey as female lead singer. They all hit their marks Saturday night and have it in them to deliver consistently as venues and demand for their performances grow. The band’s second set of popular covers kept the dance floor hopping reminding everyone that this band’s talent can now fill the big stage.

The djembe played by James McDonald adds a unique vibe to the show, completing their impressive Latin set. With a versatile repertoire of songs, this band can have the crowd singing and swinging to the likes of Prince, Bob Marley, Kings of Leon, Los Lobos and the Gipsy Kings, as well as to some of their own original material.
The Marc Joseph Band will be playing a show this Saturday, July 31, at 10 p.m. aboard the Stella Borealis, with partial proceeds going to an U14 Bolton Boys Soccer Team. Tickets as well as information are available by calling 647-969-4320. - Brampton Guardian

"Boat cruise concert features local talent"

Music will be in motion on Aug. 13 when The Marc Joseph Band sets sail on the Yankee Lady IV for the second annual All White Boat Cruise.

Marc Joseph Band. Marc Joseph Band

The event, presented by Brampton’s Synergy Music, is an evening of live music, dinner, dancing and more aboard a 115-foot modern cruise boat that tours the Toronto waterfront.
Hopeton Bailey, executive director of Synergy Music, describes the cruise as an upscale event that gives exposure to local talent.
“Our mandate is to help get musicians started and create a platform for emerging artists to play,” he said of the non-profit performing arts organization.
Headlining the cruise is Brampton’s own popular Top 40 cover band The Marc Joseph Band, who Bailey says has a fantastic repertoire of music.
The evening will also feature spot performances by a handful of other emerging artists, who will play to a crowd of roughly 300 if tickets sell out. The title of the event suggests a theme of an all-white dress code.
Tickets for the evening are $65, which buys you a five-hour cruise complete with the musical entertainment, buffet dinner, raffles and more.
Last year, the response was “overwhelming” reported Bailey, and he is expecting tickets to go fast this year.
Part of the proceeds, said Bailey, will be directed to help fund a new endeavour for Synergy Music— a three-day music festival at Downsview Park.
Bailey has his eye on organizing the Synergy Music Festival— what he calls “the biggest three-day music festival in Canada”. He’s hoping to launch the ambitious $1 million project as soon as June 2012.
The cruise ship boards at 9:30 p.m., and returns at 2:30 a.m. The cruise is a 19-plus event.

Marc Joseph - Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar

Marc has lived many places but nowhere feels more like home than centre stage. As the hypnotic front man for the band, Marc Joseph takes on lead vocals thrilling fans through every millisecond of his performances.
Coming from a musical family, Marc was surrounded by true musicians from a young age and could quickly recognize talent in others. It all came together in August of 2008 when Marc began hand-picking fellow musicians equally dedicated to being the best and bringing it to the stage night after night.
Marc hosted open jams as an outlet to perform original material, laying the foundation of what was to become "The Marc Joseph Band". He’s rocked it out on stage before tens of thousands from a young age and has won countless "Battles of the Bands".
A singer and songwriter, Marc’s influences range from classical to pop and from rock to jazz. His covers are unpredictable as Marc flirts with interpretations, making fans wonder why they ever liked the original in the first place.

David Meffe - Drums, Vocals

David Meffe skillfully masters percussion and creates a tight backbone for The Marc Joseph Band.
The Woodbridge Ontario native met Marc in his early music career and it wasn’t long before he became a full time musician for the band. David’s easy listening style comes with complex grooves and solid rhythms that move you thanks to five years of private drum lessons with Ezio Perfetto. David's education includes the prestigious Trebas Institute where he graduated as an audio engineer.
David primarily listens to R&B and funk music but he also enjoys rock and pop. His influences range from John Bonham, Levon Helm, Stanton Moore, to his high school music teacher(Enrico Lappano) as well as his first drum teacher(Ezio Perfetto). David credits both of them as being his inspirational mentors.

Daniel Van Der Merwe - Lead Guitar

Hailing from the land down under, Daniel is a classically trained guitar player with seemingly endless talent despite only being 22 years old. Rich with theory and skill to match, Daniel is welcomed to this established band as the newest member. He replaces Andy Melo who spent just over 4 years with MJB and had big shoes to fill - but undaunted Daniel stepped up to show why he relocated to North America in persuit of realizing his music career and wasted no time tracking down The Marc Joseph Band.

In excess of 130 hopefuls applied for the lead guitar position, and Daniel easily rose to the top of that list. Come catch a show and hear why.

Dave Ongena - Bass Guitar, Vocals

Dave Ongena occasionally played solo acoustic sets (guitar/vocals) at Marc Joseph's shows. There was a mutual respect between the two; Marc invited Dave to play bass for The Marc Joseph Band and by 2009 Dave was the full time bassist.
Born in Chatham Ontario, Dave has lived all across Canada. His favourite music genre is rock but he also enjoys R&B, funk and pop music. His influences range from 70's to contemporary pop-rock.
Dave has received formal bass instruction from local legends and has recorded at several leading studios with various projects. The bass was a natural transition for him, given his dexterity with finger picking styles on the guitar. He is also an accomplished songwriter.

Alyssa Delurey - Vocals

Alyssa Delurey is the female lead vocalist for The Marc Joseph Band and the last piece of the puzzle, becoming the band's "little sister". Singing since the age of three, Alyssa’s natural vocal ability was apparent as a toddler.
This small town Orangeville, Ontario native was performing on a regular circuit in major karaoke venues when Marc Joseph approached her one night in August of 2010 with an offer to audition for female vocals and by October of 2010 she had become a full-time member of The Marc Joseph Band.
Alyssa's favourite music genre is country, but she also enjoys listening to various other artists for influence; Michael Jackson and Britney Spears being her idols.
She received formal vocal training at the Randolph Academy of Performing Arts and The Royal Conservatory. Her performances include major theme parks such as Paramount Canada's Wonderland.
