Among this singer-songwriter filled year, we've seen young, blossoming talent from all over the country. Today, we have another infectious singer-songwriter track from Austin-native Marcus Brown. His latest single "Long Brown Hair" is taken from his debut LP All The Ghosts Are Gone. The track develops as a sweet soft ballad layered with Brown's crooning vocals, ultimately growing into a hushed and nostalgic requiem for a former lover.
Released earlier this year, All The Ghosts Are Gone is a collection of Brown's works over the past years, reflecting moments occurring with different people, places, and events. After long time friend and record producer Keith Gary insisted that Brown make his material available, Brown has been writing, recording, and performing at local venues. Austin born and bred singer-songwriter Marcus Brown is sure to pave the way for some aspiring musicians in today's day and age. Brown has compiled a collection of songs from the past years that reflect a certain time in his life and represent different people, places and events that have helped shape the musician and person that he is today.
Having played music from an early age, this vocalist and entrepreneur is nothing short of exhilarating. The longtime songwriter had no plans for his music until a close friend and record producer Keith Gary insisted that these songs should see the light of day and that lead to the completion of “All The Ghosts Are Gone”. The debut album, which is set for release in early 2015 will not only display the talent withheld but will take you on a journey through hardship and heartache. It is no surprise that Marcus’ talent is grabbing so much attention, having grown up in a musical family and where piano lessons were par for the course starting in preschool. His ability blossomed during family harmonizing car rides, in grade school orchestra and in high school garage bands.
He realized that his proficiency had to be put to use, but it was simply a matter of when and how he was going to take that leap. The fire can be heard in the graceful passion Marcus pours into “All The Ghosts Are Gone” heartstring-tugging, reflective vocals and soaring, dreamy melodies which easily transport the listener to the heartfelt time and place where the magic was created.
The songwriting is buoyed by the exquisite, delicate production and arrangements which paints a rich musical watercolor of tinkling chimes, delicate strings, piano and washes of keyboard that sound wistful and joyful simultaneously.
“All The Ghosts Are Gone” not only sums up a time in Marcus’ life but also tells you a great story which was always destined to be divulged. The enduring wait is finally over and it is time for all music enthusiasts, lovers and listeners to glimpse and unearth Marcus Brown.
