Bio

Princeton’s own the Marigolds began in late in 2004 with the chance meeting of guitarist/singer/songwriters Jake Brennan and Hanna Hiller. The twosome played a few local, unplugged sets together before realizing they wanted something electric. Jake snatched bassist Dave Hughes from his old rock trio, the Invisible Monsters, while Hanna invited Jer Pfau to play keys. After losing their original drummer Ian Petri to the Marine band, Jer invited the Marigolds current drummer Jeff Rogers to jam with the band. The five hit it off instantaneously. Influenced by a huge array of rock and roll artists, the Marigolds quickly began to develop a unique retro still modern sound. The Marigolds came into their own as a live band playing clubs around New Jersey. In 2005, the band recorded their first demo at Gradwell House Recording Studios. The unclassifiable music on the demo ranged from upbeat folk rock to distorted post rock. Later in 2005, the Marigolds went back into the studio to record eleven new songs, which combined with the original four-song demo, resulted in their fifteen song LP, City Alone. The band is currently working closely under the advisement of Kevin Swider to promote their music and book more shows. The Marigolds plan to record new material in the near future and to vastly increase their fan base. Help spread the word!
