The Marion Drexler Band

Marion Drexler has had her band together since the mid90's. Capable of covering blues to disco and rock to country, the band has devloped it's own sound from the great variety of influences the members have experienced over time. Southern rock with a strong dash of country would describe what would hear in their music.

Marion grew up on a farm near the south western Ontario town of Guelph. Western style horse back riding was another passion she had. After school she spent 9 years in the Canadian Armed Force, Air Division. It wasn’t until the early 90's that she began to sing. “I spent the 80's wishing I could sing.”, she often says. She formed the Marion Drexler Band in the late 90's performing cover tunes at dances in a great variety of venues. In addition to fronting her band Marion also sings with the worship band at her church.

Her band currently consists of Brian Jones, lead guitar, vocals and musical director; Jonathan Ison, drums, percussion & vocals and Don Maitland, bass guitar, live sound & vocals.

Brian Jones is a very accomplished guitarist. He played full time and toured Canada in the 70's and early 80's in a variety of bands crossing genres from blues to country to disco. Brian is a great singer in his own right and takes the lead on a several tunes during the full night gigs.

Jonathan Ison is a seasoned drummer/percussionist. His versatility has taken him across Canada and the US playing in a number of bands and again crossing genres with ease. When he is not active with the Marion Drexler Band, Jonathan can be found playing blues in a little big band setting and participating in a contemporary worship band at his church. His passion outside of music is motorcycle riding.

Don Maitland is the bassist and does live sound for the band. His first instrument was the drum kit back in the 60's then he gravitated to rythmn guitar before moving to bass. Don sings backing vocals will take the lead on a song or two during a full night gig. Musical tastes vary from rock to blues to country and Don also is involved with the contemporary worship band.

The great variety of musical experiences all swirling together is what gives the Marion Dexler Band its own sound.
