The Mark Gorman Band

What a great place, what a great show, what a great time!

1709 Grill, a recently opened upscale sports bar in Keller Texas welcomed Mark Gorman and the Mark Gorman Band to their New Year’s Eve party! The place was rocking! The Grill, quickly becoming THE neighborhood spot in Keller, is a very charming bistro type restaurant with a large wrap around bar. The menu is Modern American and the service, outstanding. The Pecan Crusted Catfish was exceptional.

I’ve seen MGB many times live, and each time I leave completely in awe. Mark Gorman is continually mixing it up and always brings something different and exciting. This night, it was a trio that included, Mark Gorman on lead vocal and acoustic guitar, Mike Hunter on bass, and Keaton O’Neal on “the bucket” and tambourine. The harmonies were unique with these three, especially during a very special performance of the Star Spangled Banner and Mark’s original song, Blue Bonnet Skies.

The Mark Gorman Band is a "Texas Country" band that plays both original songs and some very creative covers. MGB puts some twists on covers that really grab the listener and then surprises us when we hear the hook. The bands rendition of Sweet Dreams is haunting and spiritual. Mark’s original song “Do You Think She Loves Me” transitions into an impressive mix of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Johnny Cash Aerosmith and a touch of Purple Haze. Mark’s talent at acoustic guitar is stunning; as at times it sounds as if he’s rocking an electric.

We counted down the New Year with complimentary champagne from the Grill and an MGB performance of Auld Lang Syne. Mark Gorman Band finished off the night with a brand new Mark Gorman original song, Our Star, yet to be released on CD, but surely to become a big hit! It was a wonderful evening and a fun way to start off the New Year! I look forward to returning to the 1709 Grill soon and hopefully so will The Mark Gorman Band!
