The best kept secret in music

"Press review 1"

“One the BEST live shows out there. The band really feels the crowd and develops a vibe that blows you away. Their music is an organically contrived electronic blend of free funk, jazz, and something very special. Gets in your chest and pounds you from the inside and wants to come out.” - New Music West

"Press review 2"

“Themasses have been packing dance floors in Vancouver quite often lately, but the thing that has impressed us the most has been their relative ease at making people of all ages and walks of life get down and boogie the night away! Just the way we like it!" - Upstream Entertainment

Bio

Themasses' music is a blend of infectious beats and unique progressions without formulas or rules. It's created with the live performance in mind, where the crowd is the show and the dance floor is the stage. They combine organic electronica with rock, jazz and funk resulting in an upbeat, original sound that has been packing dance floors consistently for almost three years. Themasses are: Mark Strachan (guitar), Ben F. Brown (keyboards), Eric Stephenson (bass) and Ali Siadat (drums)

Formed in 2002 beneath the dramatic landscape of Vancouver BC, Themasses have developed a large, loyal following due to their unique style and solid musicianship. They have headlined over 80 shows including two appearances at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival and three intensive tours of Western Canada. Most recently, Themasses were featured in the Kokanee After Dark Concert Series during the opening night of the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival in Whistler BC where they showed Whistler that they are “…one the best live shows out there”. Currently, they are looking towards the future with plans of a major Canadian tour in support of their first full-length CD in the fall of 2005.

Currently being produced by acclaimed producer Ben Kaplan, the CD explores a myriad of musical styles including house, funk, rock and pop. It also features some amazing guest musicians including vocalist Sherry St. Germain, who has recently been joining the band on stage for most live shows. When released, it will undoubtedly catapult Themasses to another level as their infectious sound reaches an even larger audience.
