"Neighbourhood Foxes"

If ever there is to be a band to 'come out of Beenleigh' and make it big on the world stage, it will very likely be 'Mayan Fox'. Having recently supported Australian songwriting legend Brian Cadd, winning the Australian Hard Rock Cafe's annual 'Battle of the Bands' and playing at a party attended by the likes of the band 'The Killers' and other big name musicians, this local 5 piece are on a roll towards greatness. Witty, fun, exotic, energetic, hooking etc. are just some of the words used to describe Mayan Fox by those who have seen them live and/or listened to their recordings. If you haven't had the chance to familiarise yourself with the 4 lads and a lady then my advice is to do so now, before they become huge! Then you can say that you were there in the beginning. - Beenleigh Alive

"EVERYONE’S A WINNER"

Exotic pop outfit Mayan Fox have got this whole band competition thing under control. They recently took out first place in the Australian Hard Rock Cafe’s Battle of the Bands, which complimented their previous night’s second placing at the Brisbane Battle of the Bands just nicely! Following their Hard Rock performance, the band was invited to perform at the V Festival after party with Tame Impala where they performed for The Killers and other notables. "Foxy Music"

I sat down on my bar stool waiting for this (unheard of to me) 5-piece to do the same. This was acoustic night at the Shark Bar and it is an unwritten law that acoustic musos sit down to play, at least that's my experience. I found myself taken aback however as the band members came out of the blocks like race horses on speed. This is not what acoustic music is supposed to sound like. Although some of the Mayan Fox repertoire does lay comfortably alongside their acoustic contempories, instead of being dominated by melancholy and introspective lyricism and melodies, there's an excitability in their music that is normally reserved for anthemic rock bands. I wasn't able to sit for long as my feet determined that this was music for dancing to. Not only was their stage presence extremely dynamic, but their melodies had excellent hooks, their vocals were embracing and their lyrics (what I could hear - the engineer wasn't quite on to it tonight), witty and enticing.
An hour later and I was sitting back down on my bar stool awaiting for the next 'acoustic' act to perform. I'm just glad that it wasn't me having to follow the Foxes!

"Mayan Fox to support Powderfinger"

The Original Selection band competition has been running for the past 2 months, scouring South East Qld... ...to find a band worthy of supporting Powderfinger on their farewell tour at Caloundra Music Festival. Festival director Richie Eyles, awarded a support spot to the band Mayan Fox... Their confident and energetic front man Nate Hamon was struck down for words for the first time in the competition but the crowd found the words he couldn't, as they cheered for the ecstatic band as they stood center stage, absorbing the news that they would share the stage with (Australian Rock legends) Powderfinger. - Book a Band Direct (Press Release for Tsunami Magazine, Rave Magazine etc.)

Mayan Fox Biography

Q. What is Mayan Fox music?

A. Mayan Fox music is Exotic Pop.

Mayan Fox music is Bouncing Grooves, Obese Harmonies, Hook-heavy Melodies, Witty Lyricism and Abundance of Good Time Vibes.

While headlining stadium sized gigs may be every bands dream, Mayan Fox understand that the closest step to such a thing is supporting massive bands that are already headlining stadium-sized gigs.

This is the stage of their career where the 5 piece exotic fun makers find themselves at the moment. Mayan Fox have recently supported Thirsty Merc, Stan Walker, Jet and Powderfinger and also have in their history of bands supported and/or performed with, Tame Impala, Spacifix, Brian Cadd and more.

Mayan Fox have recently returned from an international tour of Canada which included a showcase at NXNE in Toronto.

Mayan Fox have also recently returned from a tour of New Zealand on the back of their debut album ‘Outfoxed’ which is selling fast and receiving rave reviews for it’s fresh and hooking melodies. The album was produced by Mayan Fox and Govinda Doyle, (Angus and Julia Stone’s ‘Big Jet Plane’).

Their new EP will be out early 2013 which will fuel a whole new line of tours and shows for the band.

Mayan Fox are known for their highly charged live show and front man Nate Hamon was recently quoted in Tsunami magazine as saying;

“Anyone that sees us live can tell that we’re having a lot of fun and it consequently allows the audience to lose their inhibitions and get a little crazy. The audience sees us doing our daggy dance moves and think, “why not” and suddenly we have a room full of daggy dancers!”

The Mayan Fox line-up is completed by Maria Hamon on ukulele and keys, Tai Shan Fox on bass and Vincent Tong on drums.

Best live performance I've seen in a long time. Usually if you can get this town nodding their heads you're doing well. You had them dancing!
