"Bernadette and the power Trio live at Orleans"

Bernadette, Lauren, Mat and Trevor played their hearts out at Orleans... warming up the cold winter air with each note. Seats were hard to come by as the audience poured into the lounge area. The crowd sang along to familiar songs, such as Jason Mraz' "I'm Yours" and enjoyed the wide variety of other music played by the band. Smiling faces, singing hearts... and fun permeated the air.

Bio

It’s not uncommon to hear of a band today trying to take the music industry by storm, and the 5-piece Newmarket, Ontario rock band, The Median, is no exception. So what makes them so different from everyone else?

For one thing, replace the archetypal male vocalist with the spunky, female powerhouse, Bernadette Connors. Throw in a backing band comprised of the classic rock influenced guitarists Mat Power and Trevor Hunter, new addition David Connors – a funk aficionado – on bass, and Lauren Chan on drums, who recently obtained a music degree for jazz percussion, and you have yourself an eclectic group of young musicians who are indeed turning heads.

Formed in early 2010, The Median has shown an unparalleled determination to get their music out to the world. Writing and completing their debut EP “Play On” in the span of only six months, they soon took to the road to promote it, completing a short Eastern Canada road trip and independently selling over 300 hard copies. Along the way, they also managed to win themselves studio time at the renowned Lake Effects Studios – a prize that came courtesy of winning the Ontario-wide Local and Loud competition. Coupled with this was national radio airplay of their most recently completed single, “Rain.”

If last year is any indication of what The Median is capable of, then 2011 should be huge for the band. When asked about the future plans for The Median, lead singer Bernadette explains: “it’s a new year, and we’ve already begun putting together loads of new material. Fans will definitely be pleased with what’s in store, and we can’t wait for them to hear what we’ve been working on.”
