Bio

Currently invading the Tri-State area, The Mellow SpaceShips have spread their indie-alternative rock among the ears of eager listeners. With a driving guitar sound; strong, thoughtful lyrics; precise rhythm; and crisp appearance, they’re a strong presence on the scene. As musical missionaries they have been spreading their sound in such NYC venues as: The Bitter End, Kenny’s Castaways, Fontanas, The Delancey, various hole in the wall dive bars and completed a residency at Uncle Mike’s .

The concept was conceived during a rainy day on Long Island at the makeshift studio built in Mr. Cotter’s living quarters. While trading songs, he played a work in progress for J Santi called Missed The Bus; a song about not letting the world dictate who you are and what you will do. As they played it over and over, it turned into the first recorded work of The Mellow SpaceShips. As a three piece group, Kevin Cronin keeps the perfect balance with his heavy foot and quick hands; aside from acting as band manager, J Santi brings forth his knowledge and creativity of lead guitar, songwriting and vocal harmony while the showmanship, and wild antics of Mr. Cotter guide him to write songs from experience and feeling through dreamy lyrics.

Constantly recording and rehearsing at numerous studios across Long Island and NYC Mr. Cotter, J Santi and Kevin Cronin are mastering their craft to convert the masses. Between writing, recording, performing and the doldrums of day-jobs, The Mellow SpaceShips have began their full-force attack of the airwaves.

With their first official release, The Mellow SpaceShips ATTACK! [EP], the band exhibits a mixture of alternative, punk, and mellow rock with a sound reminiscent to the love-child of Nirvana and The Beatles. Through simple chord changes, catchy melody and playful-tight harmony, the vocal interplay and songwriting of Mr. Cotter and J Santi resonate with the influence of such greats as Lennon and McCartney while Kevin Cronin adds a solid Dave Grohl-esque energy for the music to orbit, exemplifying their love and understanding of new and old. The Mellow SpaceShips give off a classic rock vibe missing in the current music industries fleeting idea of rock n roll.

Keep your eyes and ears open for an eclipse…
