The Michael Rambo Project

"We are fascinated with why certain kinds of music makes people 'bob' their heads." Coming from a Jazz and Art music back-ground, Michael Rambo says he is more interested in speaking the language of the masses. He says, "I would rather play three chords and have people be able to say, 'Hey- I can identify with that,' than play a virtuosic melody and people merely be impressed." There are, of course, times when they press the line of what is musically acceptable, "but it is all within reason," says Rambo.
Each member, at one time or another, has been or is a member of the University of Wisconsin Music Program in Eau Claire. One member notes, "It is so easy to make music together, that many times we diverge rehearsal into a musical frenzie or free for all- it's a lot of fun with these guys."

Rambo is inflouenced by everything he is exposed to- but what draws his ear is the likes of U2, Coldplay, Stevie Wonder, Ray Lamontagne, Lenny Kravitz, MuteMath and Fleet Foxes. "I love different spashes of musical color and flavor," Rambo says. "It is difficult for me to listen to a whole album all the way through."
Rambo is also heavily inflouenced by Urban Gospel, of which he had his hands in as a Music Director for four years at a local Church. "That stuff will always be a part of me- I love music that makes people want to dance!" remarks Rambo.
