"The Middle East - EP Review"

The Middle East Self-titled EP
This band actually isn't from the Middle East at all, but from somewhere down under (Brisbane, Australia). Sonically, however, they come from the same folky, pastoral universe as Fleet Foxes or Midlake. Gorgeous harmonies and gently strummed guitars that go on for days and days. You can also download the band's 5-song debut for the bargain price of $1 by visiting their Myspace page. Every song is a winner, so consider it a bargain. - Interview Magazine

Bio

The Middle East has come a long way since opening for American performer Bill Callahan in Melbourne, Australia, at the beginning of the year.

The band, who hail from Townsville in Australia's far north, re-released their mini album 'The Recordings of the Middle East' through Australian label Spunk Records in May 2009. They've toured with label mates Leader Cheetah promoting the inaugural Spunk Singles' Club, undertaken their own sell-out headline tour, performed at the Splendour in the Grass Festival in Byron Bay, and captured the hearts of all who have seen them perform along the way. The band has also played alongside the likes of Augie March, Okkervil River and Doves.

Currently writing and recording their debut full-length release, The Middle East combine gentle and perfect harmonies with carefully arranged and beautifully performed music. Live, The Middle East will take you places you've never been before.
