"CD Review by Joe Curtis"

The Midwest Blues All
Stars "Party Time" CD is just that--a lively party blues CD that is sure to please. It's crammed full of all of the essential ingredients for a fantastic blues party--including awesome harp playing and inspired vocals courtesy of Jimmy Davis. - Spalding Blues

"Bruce Iglauer Comments"

Mellow Down Easy:

Good vocal, good groove on the drums. Another good guitar solo. Overall, very enjoyable.

Shame, Shame:

Good to hear this song again. The simple harp style works here, and the overall performance feels good.

You have a strong, solid blues band here that I'm sure I'd enjoy seeing live. - from Alligator records

"Blues Harp Powerhouse"

Blues harp powerhouse Jimmy Davis gives the all-stars' raucous, scuffling material all the juice it needs. Even committed wallflowers will be getting up to dance. - The Isthmus Madison WI

"Some of Milwaukee's finest"

Some of Milwaukee's finest players (including blues-harp dynamo Jimmy Davis) work up a rough-and-tumble sound that pays homage to Chicago greats like Muddy Waters, Junior Wells, and Howlin' Wolf. - Critic's Choice

"New Bruce Iglauer Comments"

I just got to the Midwest Blues All-Stars disc which you sent me. This is a strong program of blues standards with good playing and plently of energy. - Live at Cathedral Park

"Turner Hall 2009"

The Midwest Blues Allstars hit the stage opening the evening with a blistering version of "Snatch it Back & Hold It." Their version of Wolf's "Killin' Floor" stood out as their evening's finest moment. - concertlivewire.com

"PARTY TIME"

The new disc is aptly named, for only one of the set's nine cuts that slows the tempo is Davis's own "Chicken a la Blues."
Davis also penned the romping titile track, and the rest of the songs were drawn from the Chicago blues canon. Anyone looking for unpretentious good time blues will find it here. - Living Blues

"A MIDWESTERN BLUES PARTY"

Once again, another wonderful CD
from a virtually unknown local band.
The CD, "Party Time" features 2 original tracks and 7 very nicely done covers. Due to the quality of talent that the All Stars possess and the excellent choice of covered songs, there is not a weak link on this CD.

Overall, I was quite impressed with this band and this CD. I'd recommend it being in any blues lover's record collection. - Blueswax

"Pavement Scorching Set!"

The "real deal" Midwest Blues All Stars scorched the pavement Saturday at the Madison Atwood Summerfest Harmony Bar Stage.

Kevin Lynch - Capital Times 8/9/2007
