The Milkmen

The Milkmen

BandRockAcoustic

We are a 3 piece acoustic groove rock band playing gigs around Perth and Fremantle circuits. We have about 60 Original songs. Our music is driven by the acoustic guitar but we cover many styles including electric styles. All of our songs are different to the last making us a band for everyone.

Biography

In early 2006, Conor Mcloughlin and Elliot Careswell, two childhood mates were both persuing their music careers at Leederville Central Tafe. They were given an assignment to write a few songs and perform them in front of the whole music department. This was the birthday of ‘The Milkmen’. Since then they have been writing music and started working towards getting a band together. They have been playing gigs around Fremantle and Northbridge and supported Perth band ‘End Of Fashion’ as part of the Australia Day Celebration at Langley Park Foreshore in 2008. in late 2008 we found our new drummer Jonathan who cleaned up a lot of the rythm section and brought the feel that we were looking for. The Milkmen have also had one of their songs played on 96fm’s 6 o’clock rock report and were interviewed by Gavin Miller. They have written all together about 60 Original songs. Their main musical influences consist of Dave Matthews Band, Glen Hansard (The Frames and Swell Season), Jack Johnson, David Gray, Kings Of Leon, The Kooks, Oasis, Ben Harper, Incubus and many more. We have been keen to get in some good band comps to help our career. We played at 2007 Royal Show Coca Cola ‘Be The Band’ Competition and it was a great way to make a name for our selves. In April 2009 ‘The Milkmen’ walked away with $15 000 in cash and prizes arter winning the Rockingham Hotel Battle Of The Bands, we had lots of newspaper exposure and considered it to be a great success.

Who We Are

Our sets are usually about 40 - 45 minutes between about 10 - 12 songs. as we have about 60 original songs we make a point of never playing the same setlist twice, we like to change it around and suit it to the audience and venue. We mostly play our own music but occasionally throw in one or two tasteful covers which influence our music. these include -
Kings of Leon - Knocked Up
David Gray - Lead Me Upstairs
Eagle Eye Cherry - Save Tonite
Dave Matthews Band - American Baby
Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away
Hootie and the Blowfish - Let Her Cry
The Kooks - Seaside
Glen Hansard - All The Way Down
Jack Johnson - Cookie Jar
