Bio

One of the most eclectic and interesting bands to come out of the Sunshine Coast, Minor Elite have quickly garnered praise and fans for their huge sound encompassing dissonant rock and grunge with stunning melodies, memorable hooks and a distinctive vocal style.
Formed in 2009, this four-piece alternative rock band from Queensland reached #1 in 2010 on Triple J Unearthed Charts with their song 'Wind of Your Lips'. In August 2010 they released their debut self-titled album of original songs.
The band is comprised of a talented, dedicated mix of musicians, including vocalist Matt Vanderveen, guitarist Wade Clayton, bassist Jamie Bingham and drummer Charlie Whaite.
With self-confessed influences from great rock bands such as Soundgarden and Alice in Chains, Minor Elite deliver a tight set of diverse originals. Echoes of ’90s grunge rock have been given a seamless contemporary kick.
The band’s philosophy is that ‘It’s all about the music; it’s all about the song’. Rehearsing three times a week, they are constantly writing and perfecting exciting new material.
Minor Elite have played various venues, often repeat performances, including Villa Noosa (Noosaville), The J (Noosa Junction), Club Envy (Maroochydore), Glenwood Swap Meet (big annual event at Glenwood, QLD), The Tempo Hotel (Brisbane), Hard Rock Café (Surfers Paradise), the annual King of the Mountain Festival (Pomona Hotel), amongst others. They also were winners in a state-wide competition to perform at the 2010 Optus National Music Muster.
