Bio

"Medicine is my wife, but music is my mistress" - Peter Goldsworthy.

And so it is for singer/songwriter Jade Goodge (Vocals/Guitar), and her partner in crime and best friend, Heli Simpson (Vocals/Percussion). The two currently study medicine in Melbourne, and performed around town as an acoustic duet, until Jade met Derwin Parkin (Keys/Vocals) in January 2011, and decided it was time to "get a proper band together." The stars aligned, and Jade, Derz and Heli found Grail Jones (Drums) and Sam Crouch (Bass/Vocals) sitting in a pub one night. (Ok, so really, they found Grail and Sam via a musician networking website, but it felt embarrassingly like internet dating, so they all agreed to say "We met in a pub!")

The lyrics are intimate and heart-felt, and the musical style varies (often according to Jade's mood while she's writing...!); sometimes rock, sometimes folk, sometimes blues, sometimes pop... But always with a Minxy undertone!

Other projects;

Jade - Lead vocalist in a project currently under production by Melbourne's Damien Wieland. Other musicians also featured in the project; Rick Grossman (Hoodoo Gurus) and Rob Hirst (Midnight Oil).

Heli - Spent her early years as a successful actress in childrens' television, and was signed to Shock Records in 2004. Now Hels is back to storm the world of music after a seven year sojourn.

Derz - Recently returned home from the US, this hip-hop producer (NYOIL [US], Zenith [AUS]) is returning to his classical roots.

The Minx played their first gig on their 4 week anniversary, headlining at the Brunswick Hotel, and they packed the venue out. This enthusiasm from fans was repeated just four nights later, when they again packed out the same venue, playing for an Oxfam fundraiser.

The Minx has some further Melbourne gigs lined up in July and September, and plans to apply for the festival circuit 2011/2012

They move quickly... Can YOU catch The Minx?!
