"CityBeat Critic's Pick: The Mocks"

Ely Mock and her laptop-toting partner, the B, were content to be little more than an Internet presence after forming their electronic duo, The Mocks, two years ago. Eventually, their fan base persuaded them to take their Disco/Techno/Pop hybrid to Monterrey stages last year, leading to packed dance floors, sensational notices and their downloadable new EP, M Is Correct.

"The Mocks - M is Correct"

"Ely, the singer, has a good domain of lyrics and makes use of her voice as a good instrument, even when they are not using too many vocal arrangements"

It's a pity that the whole album is in english because it standardizes it even more (specially because of the accent and diction), and adds them to that "list of bands" (Mexican bands singing in english).
This tiny detail is not enough to overcome the quality of the beats programming and one or another lyric that make this "an enjoyable and far from monotonous experience" - We Shall be Free - Roger Camara a.k.a bul

The Mocks are the married couple Ely and Mario Mock who made the identification simple with their band's name. They feature both, simple and unusually complex electropop rythms in their music. - Von Christian - Metawelle.net

"Midpoint Hubbub: I’m gonna start making it…"

Hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, they play some pretty catchy, totally danceable tunes. They have a free EP up as .zip file on their non-myspace website. I’m totally digging on it. Since it’s a free download, I’m sure they won’t mind me posting a track off of it just to whet your appetite. This is the first track off of their free EP, “M Is Correct”, and it’s called “Inamorata.” The chorus of this song has been wedged in my brain for about a week now. - Stop Working, Start Living Blog

"Rolling Stone - The Mocks, M is Correct"

"The married couple releases an EP where IDM rythms, electronic soul and the love for Prince glare in an exquisite way in seven pieces of electronic pop, that don't ask for nothing from other bands already recognized in the genre. From the candid "Inamorata" to the romantic balad "My Heart".
The album is free."

"Prepare for the Mocks!"

"Looking for some interesting electronic pop featuring catchy melodies and a good portion of sarcasm? Well, then you should check out The Mocks. The Mexican duo likes to see it’s music being a blend of the Pet Shop Boys, Cindy Lauper, Michael Jackson and a big lemon twist! Vitamins for the dancefloor.

The Mocks is Ely Mock and The B (who appears to be Mario Mock) from Monterrey, Mexico. Their blend of 70’s disco sound and modern electronic pop makes your legs go funny. On The Mocks’ debut “M is Correct” you can find seven catchy electronic pop songs that are 100% homemade. While the instrumentation comes from The B and his laptop, Ely has done the arrangements and mastering."

Bio

The Mocks is formed by Mario "Blodo" del Angel and Ela Gonzalez -- who have won a place in the playlist of the most demandind critiques and audience alike, both nationally and internationally. Their first work "M is Correct" (EP) got an excellent review in Rolling Stone Magazine Mexico in 2008. Since the year 2005, when they started co-writing music together they have developed an idiosyncratic aesthetic sense, mixing Blodo's composing style, based in classical music and with the melodies and lyrics of Ela, most of the time obscure and sarcastic but also extremely emotional.

Their current material called "M is Adventure" (LP) has already been acclaimed by the media:

"In M is Adventure" everything is danceable. Synthethic rythm, professional melodic instinct and a highly emotional registry" - Nicolas Díaz - Milenio.com

"Beautiful, hermetic, cool and robotic but at the same time filled with soul." - Decireves Magazine

"A less common but well received statement. A mix between sweet and sour, between the trendiest dance music and the most sinister post-punk." - Luis Resendiz - Nexos Magazine

The Mocks have performed in a variety of venues and music festivals such as Garage, UNESCO's 2007 Forum of the Cultures, MidPoint Music Festival, GeekFest, amongst others, playing amongst acts like Headlights, Gui Boratto, Robert Pollard, and others.

They also took part of Buffet Libre's Rewind II compilation alongside Little Boots, Au Revoir Simone, Bonde do Role, Soho Dolls, etc, with a great response by the fans.

Their music has been featured in Hollywood's Indie Film "Curve of Earth" starring Lee Madsen, in the BBC's drama: The Cut and in TV Azteca's Animal Nocturno.

They have also received airplay in the following stations: Sirius Satellite Radio, Canarias Ahora 98.2 FM in Spain, Radio Seagull 1602 AM in the UK, in the University of Bristol's online radio, amongst others across the world.
