"The Moist Makers Return to Potsdam"

On Halloween night, funk band The Moist Makers played a high-energy show to a full house at La Casbah, which marked the first time they've played in the area since last semester.

The performance also marked the return of the band's original guitarist Matt Klein, but saxophonist Austin Day was presumably unable to attend the performance. Aptly filling the position, however, was Nick Natalie and his eclectic, yet lyrical style of playing.

The band ended up starting around 11:30 p.m., and after the first few seconds of music the crowd was well aware that the Moist was back. The band played several various covers and originals that have been occupying their repertoire for some time, each sprinkled with professional grade solos from alternating members of the band.

The most entertaining aspect of the night was the fact that it just felt like a Moist Makers show. It's hard to describe, but there's an atmosphere and sense of community that the Moist create whenever they perform in and around Potsdam. The band has made quite an impression during its two-semester reign and has almost become a Potsdam tradition.

Although several of its members have graduated and moved on in their lives, I hope The Moist Makers play more shows in the area throughout the year-their contagious energy and undeniable musicianship is too incredible an experience to be put to rest. - the Racquette

Started in the Fall of 2008, upstate NY. We began playing covers to get through gigs, but our repertoire grew to contain mostly originals. Our music spans several genres, including classic rock, reggae, hip-hop, jazz, and pure funk.
